What great stories!! Thank you all for sharing:) Here's mine: When I was 16 (gosh, that seems so long ago..LOL), I was reading through one of the teen magazines and came across a picture of an absolutely beautiful dog. Of course, I knew it was a Yorkie and my heart just melted. I vowed then that one day, I would have one. Well, life went on, I finished high school, college, and got married. I had cut that picture out and kept it in my wallet and every day, I would pull it out and look at it. After I married, I bought a book on the breed to learn as much as I could before starting my search for the perfect baby. It took 2 years but I found her:) Katie was such a gorgeous baby. I remember the breeder offering me the choice between Katie and her sister. When the breeder mentioned I could choose between the 2, Katie simply laid down and got this sad look on her face as if to say, "I know you're gonna pick my sister, she's a bit bigger than me." I just couldn't resist the sad look on her face so I chose her (or she chose me). She grew to be a beautiful 6 pound girl and the love of my live (after my hubby of course;)). After we got her, I knew I had chosen the most perfect breed in the world to love and care for and I've had one ever since. Katie has long crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and I now have Gabby, who will be 9 in 10 more days, and Gage, my rescue who is just a year old. Thanks for starting this thread and allowing me to share my story with you. Suzi |

I was born this way. The first word out of my mouth was yorkie. Now, 55 years later I'm still saying it. :lol tears :lol tears |
I have always loved dogs of all shapes and sizes , when I was little Iwould pat every dog I met. We had a large mutt and when he passed away when I was 15 I got a job afer school and saved up all my money and when I had enough for my dream dog I seen an ad in the paper and told my mum and dad about the money I had for it and we went to see the puppies and I bought Max who was such a great little guy ,who I had for 13 brilliant years and that was it for me . When max passed away we were broken hearted and I bought my mum pebbles yorkie number 2 . After many years of trying to persuade my husband I now have Alfie and Lottie and can never imagine not having a yorkie. They are so caring funny ,mad, energetic, loving, mischevious, clever, trusting, cheeky, beautiful, and the best breed of dogs that could ever own you. |
I think it's a character flaw we are all born with! LOL |
I had a lot of negative things happening in my life in regards to my family. I was at Jamba Juice one day, being sad and worried. All of a sudden this little 4 lbs yorkie came running up to me out of nowhere with a ribbed tank top on that said "The Princess is here" and I immediately picked her up. She was licking my tears away and that's when I knew I had to have a yorkie. Her owner had her on a really long leash and we talked for hours. That's when I first saw a yorkie in person EVER. I fell in love that day and my life changed. |
:luvu:  All I had to do was look at their cute little faces and I fell hard! |
My aunt had a yorkie, Ellie, and I she was always so precious but my parents had always said no to a dog since I had asthma...but then alittle more than a year ago Ellie had her first litter and my aunt offered me one...at first my parents were not sure, but then one day out of the blue I asked again and my mom said sure why not...we went to see them and instantly fell in love!!! We have all been hooked since..... |
