okay so this post is for my sister and a problem she's having with one of her little ones. ... Seamus

my sister's little almost 8 month yorkie who weighs about 3.5 lbs feels tht he is above the pee pads. her other yorkie

Oliver (3 years old) had no problem learning to go potty on them and how to got potty. she has tried basically everything and he stilllikes to leave "surprises" in the house. she's put down multiple pads and he still chooses to go randomly. he's even figured out how to get up onto the dinner table and uhm.. well let's just say that our mom's address book will never be the same. any ideas on what to do? he's recently been "neutercaled"

but he was doing it before that too. he had a rough start before she got hima s the girl we got him from was only feeding him once a day!

and then claimed she didn't ahve time for his needs

but hey he's had a great mommy for the passed 4 months and he loves his big brother and they get along great. so... any help on what to do to get him to go potty on the pee pad would be great. he'll go potty outside inthe grass with no problem but he just refuses the peepads... *sigh* men! sorry for the long post but she just told me he peed on her down comforter... again

ouch- the down comforter too. Well sounds like she needs Crate training 101. I know she may think it is harsh but I think it really works. Basically they have to stay in the crate unless they are in your arms. I am sure there are many web sites that can explain the process. It also sounds like he is top dog. Good luck.

the only problem with that would be Oliver.. he'd be devastated that he couldn't play and sleep with his baby brother. she has a crate but leaving him in there for a long time isn't an option. she only used the crate after Seamus got neutered to give him a break and Ollie tried clawing his way in to be with him and it wasn't a good thing for his nails and paws

so even after his surgery to make him aerodynamic the crate didn't work for too long. *sigh*

I can't get the pee pads here in Tunisia, they don't cater for pets of any kind very much. I've been forced to improvise when training my lil' 4 month old pup. She has been with us for 4 days now. We've been just putting old newspaper down for her in her one area. She has so far been using it ok. We still go out every hour just incase she wants a lil' pee pee break. But she uses it a night and if she needs an in between pee during the day. She did pee on the bed twice. But that was just day 1, more out of excitement than intent. She hasn't done it since, and she goes all night without peeing on us!

I got this from a post a while back, and it works like a charm for the little "men"!

Put down one pee pad, fill a 2 liter coke bottle with water or sand, put in the middle of the pee pad and drape and wrap another one over the bottle. Not very pretty to look at, but it beats those little surprises everywhere. Give it a try.

Does she allow them to have free reign of the house when she isn't home or able to keep an eye on them? She should probably only let the pup run around the house when she can keep very close watch over him. That way she can stop the accidents before they happen.

Assuming the dogs are allowed to roam free when she isn't around.....
I would suggest getting some sort of x-pen and keeping both of them penned in it when she isn't able to keep watch over them. (Laundry rooms work well too, just close the door or get a baby gate) She can line the bottom of the pen (or bathroom/laundry room, whatever) with the pads or newspaper, that way wherever they go, it's on a pad. The pen/room should be large enough for the both of them and then she doesn't need to worry about any separation anxiety.
When my husband and I can't keep an eye on Pixie, we'll put her in her pen. She has her crate/bed, food & water, potty pads and few toys. This way, I don't have to worry about her having any accidents or getting into things when we're not looking.

I have the same problem with my Zoé!! She`s still a baby though... almost 10 weeks. I put her in her safe place (kitchen) with all her toys, bed, chew things, water, food...PEE PADS... but I guess it`s just more fun peeing on the ceramic floor..hahaha!!

If I leave for one second... she starts crying and yelling for me to come back... if I don`t get there quick enough... she jumps out and runs to me...

Will this ever stop?...

Here's our pee pad problem. We bought a holder for the pads bc one of our dogs thought they were chew toys. Now that our male lifts his leg instead of squatting, he stands on the outside of the holder and lifts his leg. He does get most on the pad, then some on the holder, and some on the floor. I guess beggers can't be choosers.

okay so i just told her the pee pole idea and she doesn't think it'll work since he doesn't lift his leg. she does let them have free reign since htey are usually not home all alone. Seamus is just sneaky and will go off for a few seconds and do his thing and then reappear like he never left. he does use the pad sometimes but he just isn't consistent with it

lol the tiles in the house are nearly covered in pee pads and he still finds places to go other than the pads. what a cute little stinker he is.
