| color theory crazy??? O.K. so we have talked many times about the idea that if your dogs eyes reflect brown/red in pictures they should have a cotton coat, and green for a silky coat...... well I think it colud be bunk!!! Unless their eyes can change. These pictures were taken about a month apart with the same camera, in the same room, with the same lighting, and the same dog! What do you thing?! |

| What is my dog's hair? So, I know everyone asks this but I would like some help too! Here are some of the best pictures I have of Dori's hair... silky or cotton? It almost seems like she could be silky on her face and cotton on her back, can they be both?! thanks!! |

| From what I've learned, their eye color can change over time and age. Coco's used to be brown with pictures but in the last 2 months, they reflect green in most pictures taken at the right angle. I know for sure she is a silky coat. I don't know how true the eye color theory is but your baby is adorable. It's hard to tell through pictures, but I'm trying to imagine what it would look like in person. It looks more cottony to me but I'm certainly no expert at all..lol

| The theory has always worked for me. Macey had green eyes and a silky coat, and lilah has yellow eyes and a cottony coat. (Yellow DOES mean cottony, right?)

| AmandaG, your right, but Dori's eyes were always bright green , and now they reflect brown/yellow.. so I guess they can change. Oh well, her green eyes were my last thread of hope for a silky coat!! I still love her just the same! I'll just be a little jelious of the rest of you!! HA! HA! |

| It really is HARD to tell the coat type from pics. Atleast for me anyway. I think Dori is a cutie no matter what type she truly has!

| My little man, Logan's, eyes glow blue so what does that mean. As his grown up coat grows in it seems silky, but we keep him short. It lays nice and doesn't mat and has a nice shine to it.

| It has worked for all three of mine. Maddie and Polly have the green eyes and Rudy has the Redish eyes when you take there pic's. Maddie has silk hair to the ground and Polly will be one this month and her hair is almost to the ground. Rudy has the cotton coat that is beautiful, but so hard to keep, he is all boy and alway getting into something so in the summer he gets a puppy cut. The breeder have said they don't really get there true coat till they are two years and I believe that too. Rudy had a black coat till he was about 18 months and then he lightened up. "The new complete Yorkshire Terrier" by Joan B Gordon was recommended by Yt members and I have learned so much from the book.

| Another way to tell cottony from silky is feel. Silky coats will feel cooler to the touch, temp. wise, as opposed to the warmth of a cottony coat. |
