Pristine yorkie breeder
 

As some of you may know I asked what you thought about her website. I emailed her this morning because there is no phone number on her site but she does no sound very friendly or maybe it is just me here was our conversaton. I know I will not be looking to get one of her babies :(

Can you tell me if you have an upcoming litter. I just love how beautiful your babies are. Could you please give me information on going about purchasing from you and what your prices range from. I can imagine that all of your yorkies are small. I have experience in taking care of a tiny as I have a tiny yorkie myself.

Im sorry it didnt work out for you but it might be for a good reason.
This breader did not sound very friendly and did not give you any additional information about the puppy that was available.
If the person is not kind in your first encounter what will happen if you ever need her help after purchasing one of her pups?

I wouldn't get one from there a geuine yorkie breeder who really cares for the breed would not treat you like that :mad:
She doesn't sound as if she cares much about her pups or where they go.
Also as others have said if she treats you like that now, if you have a problem with your pup after you have brought him/her home I am pretty sure that she wouldn't give you the time of day let alone any advice!

Deeva is $850 and Star is $950. Deeva is charting to be 5.5 lbs, and Star 3.5 to 4. They will be ready in 2 weeks ( 8 weeks of age). The come with their first shots and their AKC registration and one year health warranty.

How long ago did you contact them? Maybe they have already sold Deeva and Star. Still, that's no excuse for the cranky and short responses to the other person...

I agree, she doesn't sound very interested in selling puppies. It could be she's just having a bad day but bad days don't make for good business! I would look elsewhere. Sending prayers for your success in finding the right baby to call your own!!

A good breeder does not let there pups leave mom until 12 weeks. If they cut one corner like that you can bet that they cut other corners like health and genetic testing so you could end up with a sick pup or a pup that later on shows signs of genetic illness.

Please no one buy from this breeder.........

This is an old thread, the pups are all grown up, but I don't think the breeder was rude, she says, "I have no upcoming litters at this time, Prices vary and Joy I is the only thing I have a valuable at this time.I do not ship. Thanks." How is this rude, she answers the questions. If I were a breeder, I'd be a little upset by the fact that the OP is only looking for a tiny. I have no idea if this is a good breeder, but most good breeders would not like the emphasis on tinies. “I can imagine that all of your yorkies are small. I have experience in taking care of a tiny as I have a tiny yorkie myself.” A good breeder is breeding for much more than size, and this this remark makes a person sound like they just want a fashion accessory. A breeder who breeds for the pet market will not be offended by this statement, but a quality breeder might take offense to it.


I’ve also read that many good breeders do not like it when one of your first statements asks about price. They are offended by this and while I don’t necessarily agree with their reasoning, they say, it’s better to get to know the breeder and her breeding program. I think one of the biggest mistakes pet owners make when a buying a puppy is to look for someone who’s overly “friendly.” Do you want a salesman, or a breeder? Good breeders get lots of emails, you have to find out a way to stand out from the rest, and I believe it’s a good idea to email them and ask, when you could call and talk to them about their breeding program. Also, don’t be afraid to get on a list, some really good breeders don’t breed unless they have a few people waiting for pups. I do think it’s good information to tell a breeder you have had experience with Yorkies, I just don’t think it’s a good idea to only be interested in one trait like size.

I didn't look at the date on the first post, LOL! She sounds friendlier now. Maybe it would be possible to visit the breeder and check her out in person?

I agree. My main concerns are that the breeder wants to sell the pups at 8 weeks, and that she is willing to ship them across the country. However, if I lived in the Houston area, I'd definitely check out her facilities and consider her as a possible source.

I was only responding to the OP's post in that she didn't sound “friendly”. I’m not endorsing this breeder; I don't think it necessarily a good thing if a breeder is a good salesman and is super friendly at first. It’s more important that they are friendly over time. Joey’s breeder seemed cautious at first, but after 7 years of knowing her, I believe she’s very friendly. The OP was the one who said that the breeder says that doesn't ship, although I just checked the website and she does ship now. I don't think this necessarily makes a person a bad breeder, but I would hope all pet owners could find a breeder who they could visit in person. I totally agree that if she sells at 8 weeks, I would look elsewhere; this would be a deal changer to me.

If shes advertising tcups she isnt a good breeder either

I think she's avoiding the t word, but she says things like, "He's the tiniest ofthe litter charting to be 2.5 lbs, just like his dad", and "babydoll faces", which is synonymous for "teacup." In a way, I hate to saying anything, because so many of the people here still think that's a good thing.

Now she ships WORLDWIDE?!?!?!??? And she breeds "small,compact, exquisite Yorkies with a beautiful baby doll faces." I think I would run in the opposite direction...

Yep, sounds like a teacup breeder to me. There, I said it. Teacup, teacup, teacup. And that's NOT a good thing.

Lol, yeah, I agree, and now that I think of it, I wonder why she wasn't more friendly, cause she sure sounds like a puppy salesman! :D

Excellent points made, Nancy. I will just share another comment that will possibly offend a quality breeder. I can see the reasoning of the person that is looking for a pet, so try to see this from the "other side of the fence". When you call a breeder, if you use the statement, "I am not wanting a show dog, just a pet", to get the point across that you may be working with a lower budget, please remember, a quality breeder does not look at those babies and say, "Well, lets see...out of these 5, these two look promising for a show home, so I will just move these other 3 over to the corner and not waste so much time with them and what they need. I can feed them the cheap food, and only fool with them an hour or so a day, I wont vaccinate or worm them, and I will get them out of here at 6-8 weeks so the new owner can deal with all that expense and time..... I dont want to invest MY time, energy and money in them, as they are going to be sold as "just" pets and will go cheaper......". Please understand a quality breeder will devote as much labor, as much energy, as much money, and as much heart and soul into every single baby she has, regardless of where that baby is going to go. Those itty bitty tiny ones that we tend to 24/7, feeding every 1-2 hours around the clock, the ones we sneek into work as we can continue to care for that baby, the one we carry around in our bra so it is warm and feels life next to it rather than just laying in an incubator alone, so we can talk to it and sing quietly to it .....that baby is not likely going to be a show dog, but we are awake more hours and trying probably 10 times as hard with that one, as the little one that looks so perfect and is obviously our next Westminister Grand Champion!! It would be better to start the conversation with, "I am researching breeders and breeding programs and I like what I see with yours....I only am able to spend $xxx.xx - $xxxx.xx on a puppy, do you have anything within my price range?" Just some food for thought from the "other side".....
