YT 500 Club Member | ![]() So I got an apartment!! Yay!! Now I’m frustrated because every time I try to leave the apartment they bark like their being beaten and I’m gonna get kicked out. They bark, then all the other dogs in the building start barking and I can’t even get moved in. I just got a little bird house looking thing that is a bark deterrent, and I’m hoping this works cause I’m about to lose my mind. I had to take them with me last night to work and leave them locked in the car with the heater on cause it was so cold. Mind you they were right in front of me twenty feet away so my eyes were on them the whole time, but man I can’t keep doing that. And I’m on that Nextdoor app and even though I’ve had people offer to help in too paranoid to take them up on it because, well, I’m this awful town yorkies are stolen all the time and it’s awful. So I won’t accept help that’s offered free and at this time I can’t afford the doggy daycare that I trust. I’m just hoping my kids get some “ act right” and start behaving. Or I’m gonna end up homeless since my parole officer refuses to let me transfer to North Dakota with my husband. We thought getting married would allow that to happen faster but all it did was make my po angry with me so yeah… life is some difficult s#it right now. Lol. I’m just venting |

| ![]() Gezzzz, I can't offer up any advise on your barking dogs. I am also on a nextdoor app in my area, I don't trust anyone when it comes to my fur kid. You don't know who these ppl are. Your poor babies, I feel so bad for them, they think mommy is leaving them forever, poor lil tykes. Have you tried leaving the TV or radio on for them when you're gone. I have heard that helps dogs that suffer from separation anxiety. There are meds for this also if you want to go that route. What a dilemma.

| ![]() Are you sure they bark after your gone? Leaving them in the car isn’t safe because they do get stolen that way and there can be a build up of fumes.

| ![]() Fans, white noise machines, Radio, are all your friend lol. Work up slowly to leaving. Walk out the door, leave, come right back in. Do that a few times. When they don't bark, give them a treat. Then slowly add more duration to it. Also make you leaving unpredictable. Pick up your keys and purse randomly, etc, things they pick up on. They have fairly inexpensive cameras that use your wifi as well and you can check up on them during the day. I have a feeling they probably just bark at first and then quiet down. But if you had a camera you'd know for sure.

I'll say something others here might not like: if it's a choice between you being homeless and the pup getting a new home, rehome the dogs and keep your home. Or at least try to get to know the nieghbors and try to see if they can doggysit. I am hoping the best for you! Last edited by Yorktowny; 01-18-2022 at 05:51 AM. | |
