| Dixie had to go to the ER vet Oh goodness I'm pretty sure Dixie is going to give me more grey hair then any of my others. This is kind of a good thing to keep in mind when you have multiple dogs that play together. Penny accidently scratched Dixie in the eye late late last night pretty close to before bed and she had blood all in the hair around her eye so I was freaking out inside. I cleaned some of it off of the hair and then threw my clothes on and off to the ER vet we went. The scratch was actually on her eye itself and that was blood from her eye I got very lucky and there really was really no wait at the ER vet and we got in and out in a little over an hour. She has a corneal ulcer. Eye drops once a day and eye ointment twice a day. They think it will be healed in a week and our regular vet is going to see her and recheck it Thursday. Then they gave the dreaded words no one wants to hear with a pup that just turned one which is limit exercise. I am doing my best. Obviously I am making sure there is no wrestling or really any play with her siblings not chase or anything, I'm making sure she does not rub or mess with her eye and trying to keep her from doing the death kill shake on toys. If I crate her during the day with her siblings out she will scream and cry and stress herself out. I am very glad I have pet insurance. Please keep in your thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery and calmness.

| Thank you. She is acting like it doesn't bother her at all luckily she has not tried to mess with it at all. Tonight is her last of the drops because they were only for 3 days. Then we continue the ointment twice a day until the Vet says to stop. I think I going to still be worried until she is cleared as healed by the Vet. Eyes always worry me like crazy.

| I am so sorry about Dixie's accident. That happened to Jazzy last year also. One more piece of advice that Metese gave me. Wait a couple of weeks before you give her a bath, which I did. Hope the healing goes quickly.

| I'm hopping that being so young and healthy it will heal up fast. Her eye is already looking better to me. No more redness in the white.

| How scary. Lucky for Penny you were there with her and reacted quickly. If that had become infected it could have been really bad. |

| Dixie had her recheck today the eye is healed but because an eye infection can come secondary with a scratch the Vet wants to continue the eye ointment twice a day for 7 more days and then we can stop.
