Help! Ruger keeps waking me up. Ruger has been having trouble getting onto my bed lately so he whines a cries for my help. I got him some stairs but he refused to use them. He'll jump off the bed in the middle of the night and then whine and cry for my help so I get out of bed to help him and as soon as my feet hit the floor he jumps right in. I've tried moving way over to let him in but he just sits there and cries. Again, I get up and out and he jumps right in. Help! How do I correct this? Sleepless in Colorado.

Just wondering ... did you try to train your little guy to use the pet stairs, or did you just put them against the bed and expect him to use them? If you haven’t tried to train him to use them, you might try doing the training during daylight, when they probably won’t seem so intimidating, and use treats to encourage him to climb them. Start with a treat on the bottom step and slowly work your way up. After he gets used to climbing them during the daylight, and maybe snuggling with you when he finally gets all the way to the top, he might not be so reluctant to climb them at night.

I did this. He got the treats off the stairs while standing on the floor and just got frustrated trying to get the treat off the top step and the bed. This is driving me nuts. Last nite at 3am he cried and cried and barked to get on the bed. I get out and he jumps in. Once he's in he snuggles right up to me so it's not me -- I hope.
