Prayers for Callie I need to ask for prayers for Callie. I wanted to put this here so more people would see it. On Sunday the 4th I noticed Callie’s lymph node on the right side of her neck was really swollen. I wanted to wait until Wednesday to take her in just encase the swelling went down. Well we talked to the vet Tuesday who said to give it a few more days and then come in because at the time if felt like it was getting smaller. Well there now has been no change anymore and I want to see a specific vet so we have an appointment Monday. It’s very likely it’s cancer so I’m trying to prepare myself. Apparently Cushings increases their chance of lymphoma. She has started not eating all of her food which is really weird for her. She is only leaving a few bites but still weird. If it is cancer I’m not putting her through chemo I will just keep her comfortable until it’s time. I just don’t know how to live without her. |
She is in my thoughts and prayers. My Boomer was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I also decided not to do Chemo because it would still only give him about a year or two. I treated him with Prednisone for the pain. Unfortunately for him he most likely had an underlying condition as he has a stroke or heart attack a week after the diagnosis and I had to put him down. It broke my heart. He was my first dog and I miss him to this day. His brother Thumper was lost without him. Just give her extra love while you can. I know the waiting for the diagnosis is the hardest also. |
Ohhh Taylor I am so sorry to read this. Keeping Callie in my prayers and pray it is not lymphoma (((hugs))) |
So very sorry to read this Taylor! I will be keeping Callie in my thoughts, and hoping that you have good news for us on Monday. Try to remain positive while you are waiting to see the doctor...know that is easier said than done, but Callie will sense your distress. Please take care of yourself this weekend, and know that the many people that you reach out to on this site will be sending encouragement your way! |
Praying and hoping for hopeful news on Callie. She’s quite the trouper, a real little soldier. Cute as a button, too. Glad she won’t has you for her mom. |
Try to remain positive -- it might be something completely different! My prayers are with you and Callie ((hugs)) |
Thanks everyone. |
Any chance it’s an infected tooth or nerve root? Any redness, slight swelling, tenderness of her muzzle on that side, loose tooth, reddened gum line, on that side? |
We are praying for the best |

Callie My prayers for Callie. Hoping it will be a good report. I agree with you on the no chemo. I would not put a dog through that. When trials come we are never prepared to handle them. Extra strength and guidance comes from the prayers friends are saying. You are so faithful helping others. Many people are in prayer for you! |
Prayers for Callie and prayers for good news after the vet visit on monday. Hopefully it's something different. Hugs and strength to you! |
Prayers heading out for Callie and all the other furbabies having health problems |
*Update* So Vet says it would be very usual for just one node to be swollen for it to be cancer. She said the neck ones filter mouth infections and really feels it is a bad tooth infection. Callie has been put on antibiotics and there should be a difference in 3 days but if there is no change by Monday she needs to come back in. They would like to do a dental with full xrays to find the problem. |
Although I am sure that poor Callie is most uncomfortable, this sounds like potentially GREAT news! Thanks for keeping us posted. |
Keeping Callie in my thoughts! |
Although infection from tooth is not good, cancer being ruled out is fantastic, a great weight must have been lifted from your shoulders. Hope the antibiotics kicks in fast and Callie can get some relief. |
Great news despite her discomfort, far better than it could have been. Tibbe had same symptoms when his tooth, gums were okay but the nerve root for the tooth was infected, first vet just missed it. Treated w/antibiotics x2 courses but extraction of the tooth, nerve when his regular vet returned eventually cured him. Best wishes antibiotics alone do the job! |

Just a side note, Chibi’S lymph nodes used to get swollen all the time. They scared me with the possible cancer thing but his blood work was always good. I think they got inflamed from his allergies. They never caused a problem. Hope your pup is ok |

Praying for you and your baby Callie. |
Praying for y'all ;-; |
Her lymph node is almost normal size but you can tell her tooth is bothering her. |
So Callie finished her first week of antibiotics. One more week to go and then her recheck. I’m hoping to get her blood work done at her recheck and then schedule her dental then. She is starting to eat more of the dry food now so the tooth pain maybe subsiding but it will just come back after the antibiotics if we don’t get it taken care of. |
🙏 for darling Callie! |
1 Attachment(s) Within about six months of bringing Piper home, she went in for a dental cleaning and ended up having four teeth removed. I had noticed prior to this that she wasn't eating as she had been and seemed a bit "off." Well, lemme tell ya, even though she pretended not to know me when I picked her up after dental surgery, within that first week I had a different dog! Piper was bouncy, happy, and oh-so-bright-eyed--they just sparkled! I've had lotsa dental issues myself and now know how lousy she'd been feeling and how so much better she felt! Love and smooches to you and all of your babies---positive prayers and energy coming your way! Pipe after teeth removed, little lopsided, but oh so happy! |
So Callie got blood work Tuesday and is scheduled for her dental on the 3rd. They are going to do full mouth xrays. She is acting a bit like her tooth might be bothering her again. I’m worried but I know it needs to be done. |
Callie Prayers for sweet Callie. I hope she feels better soon. You are a great dog mom taking good care of her! |
Prayers for Callie and hoping that they will find what tooth is bothering her and she will have no discomfort after dental! It must have been very difficult couple of weeks for you... Sending you both good energy and prayers that it will be soon left behind. |
