Prayers for Callie
 
I need to ask for prayers for Callie. I wanted to put this here so more people would see it. On Sunday the 4th I noticed Callie’s lymph node on the right side of her neck was really swollen. I wanted to wait until Wednesday to take her in just encase the swelling went down. Well we talked to the vet Tuesday who said to give it a few more days and then come in because at the time if felt like it was getting smaller. Well there now has been no change anymore and I want to see a specific vet so we have an appointment Monday. It’s very likely it’s cancer so I’m trying to prepare myself. Apparently Cushings increases their chance of lymphoma. She has started not eating all of her food which is really weird for her. She is only leaving a few bites but still weird. If it is cancer I’m not putting her through chemo I will just keep her comfortable until it’s time. I just don’t know how to live without her.

She is in my thoughts and prayers. My Boomer was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I also decided not to do Chemo because it would still only give him about a year or two. I treated him with Prednisone for the pain. Unfortunately for him he most likely had an underlying condition as he has a stroke or heart attack a week after the diagnosis and I had to put him down.

It broke my heart. He was my first dog and I miss him to this day. His brother Thumper was lost without him. Just give her extra love while you can. I know the waiting for the diagnosis is the hardest also.

So very sorry to read this Taylor! I will be keeping Callie in my thoughts, and hoping that you have good news for us on Monday. Try to remain positive while you are waiting to see the doctor...know that is easier said than done, but Callie will sense your distress. Please take care of yourself this weekend, and know that the many people that you reach out to on this site will be sending encouragement your way! :love:

Praying and hoping for hopeful news on Callie. She’s quite the trouper, a real little soldier. Cute as a button, too. Glad she won’t has you for her mom.

Any chance it’s an infected tooth or nerve root? Any redness, slight swelling, tenderness of her muzzle on that side, loose tooth, reddened gum line, on that side?

She’s not acting like there is a problem and I haven’t seen any other swelling. I have checked her teeth and can’t seem to find a broken one. On the same side her ear has been a little icky but not infected like and she’s not messing with it at all. I’m sure the vet is going to check her our really well and aspirate the node. Callie had a big blood work done less then 2 months ago.

My prayers for Callie. Hoping it will be a good report. I agree with you on the no chemo. I would not put a dog through that. When trials come we are never prepared to handle them.
Extra strength and guidance comes from the prayers friends are saying.
You are so faithful helping others. Many people are in prayer for you!

*Update*
 
So Vet says it would be very usual for just one node to be swollen for it to be cancer. She said the neck ones filter mouth infections and really feels it is a bad tooth infection. Callie has been put on antibiotics and there should be a difference in 3 days but if there is no change by Monday she needs to come back in. They would like to do a dental with full xrays to find the problem.

Although I am sure that poor Callie is most uncomfortable, this sounds like potentially GREAT news! Thanks for keeping us posted.
