OK Guys! Thinning shears also work well when I cut my bangs and get a little too aggressive! And I use my dog trimming shears on my hubby. So there! |
BTW...we use a well-priced set of grooming scissors with blunt tips that we got at Amazon: Pet Magasin Grooming Scissors Kits - (2 Pairs - 1 for Body and 1 for Face + Ear + Nose + Paw) - Sharp and Strong Stainless Steel Blade Dog Grooming Scissors with Round Tip Top for Dogs and Cats They have held their edge, and make us feel more secure when we are using the small pair to finish off the tender eye and paw pad areas. |
I love this post so much.... this whole paragraph sounds like me exactly. I thought I was the only one who took 3 days to clip a 5.8lb Yorkie. Let me ask you....? How much pressure do you put on the clipper when doing his back etc... I have a great clipper and I want to do his body ( Alias) with a 7F Also I値l use the 7F for his privates as I知 afraid a 10 will give his little butt razor burn. I知 new to this and like you I have all the stuff but I am so afraid to put too much pressure on the clipper resulting in a tentative uneven choppy sort of body. I know what the finish of a 7F should look like which is why I知 not doing it right. Any suggestion would help. Your baby is adorable and his trim is excellent ❤️ |

Actually I let the clipper rest on him like his back. I go over it several times and eventually the lines will even out. I don't use the big clipper very close to his butt or pee pee. I use my small battery powered clippers for those areas and I carefully scissor clip his pee pee area. I go very lightly. If I do it too close Deuce will drag his butt on the carpet. Ugggghhh. My hubby will hold him standing up so I can lightly shave his belly area. |
Thanks... ya I use my little Wahl mini thing for paw pads, butt and ear tips. I don稚 have a problem with the little one. It痴 my normal size clipper for his body, chest and tummy that I知 nervous about. So when you say you go over your dogs body ... do you think that will hel to get it shorter. The other problem is you know how Yorkie hair lays really flat...so I back brush it every pass with the clipper. Maybe that will get it down to the right length. Because trying to catch the hair in a blade is what is making it choppy cause some catches some doesn稚. So then I feel like I should be alter the angle of the tip of the clipper. But then I feel like a serial killer lolol. What angle and pressure do you put on your clipper when you do your baby. Also if I could ask how you get the sides of your dogs beard and the front hanging down beard. How do you get it straight when he puts his head up or shakes. Sorry for all the questions. |
grooming I can't even brush my yorkie, he bites the brush and gets quite mad, he is over 3 months old, don't know what to do |
