Now I'm looking at a $400 Yorkie OK, I got the fever. Since losing out on the $200 rescue, I found a $400 Yorkie in the paper. Obviously, I'm looking for a pet-quality Yorkie. Parents: Purebred (supposedly) but unpapered. 5 years old each Mom: 8.5 lbs. Dad: 4.5. They kept a male from a previous litter between same parents, and he's 9 pounds Not professional breeder. Just a family that owns two Yorkies. 5 in litter. This is only one left. They're bringing mom and dad and pup over in an hour. Doubt I'll do it, but does it sound too expensive for unpapered dog? Oh, and a fear: Pup is only 7 weeks old, and they're ready to give him away. Said all the others in the litter are already gone, and 'weaned themselves' at 5 weeks. |
Hmm.....sounds iffy, but definitely worth looking into! Eddie would make such an awesome older brother! Let us know how it goes. |
Thats a good price and the papers really dont mean anything unless you are breeding or showing. |
7 weeks old? Eeee.....I'd be a little weary of it myself. I wouldn't take the pup either. If I liked him, I'd offer to pay them full but ask they keep him til at least 9 weeks. Just go with your biggest gut feeling. |

Oh go for it! My guess is if you ask them to keep him a little longer they will just find someone who will take him now! I know my breeder wanted all of hers to go at the same time. At least you are an expereienced Yorkie owner who will know how to take care of a little one. |
I got Chachi at 7 weeks. Its not ideal but you are an experienced yorkie owner and I am sure it would be fine. |
ooooooo good luck! Let us know how it goes, ask all the health questions about both parents, who their vet is, you know the drill ;) and don't forget to let us know as soon as the visit is over! |

Spend the waiting time looking at puppy pictures to remind you of how they should look. Pet quality can mean adorable or it can mean ugly. yikes, is that harsh? Good luck, hope it goes well. |

This is sooo exciting it is like I am the one looking at the yorkie! :D I say for pet quality that isn't a bad price! But if you have waited this long and don't like what you see, you can always save your money to get a papered pup!!! :hug: Good luck to you and keep us updated!!! OH yea, what names do you have picked if you decide to keep him? |

This is so cool ! I knew you were looking but didn't know you're really serious - GOOD LUCK ...If they're smart... they'd see you are the PERFECT person to have their last puppy ! I think Eddie would have a ball with a little playmate |

I mean, all they have to do is show Mike a couple dogs, interview him, check out his set up, watch Eddie run through the snow, make a video, drink some wine, help Mike learn how to program his alarm clock... Mike, the one big thing about getting the baby so young is the social skills it will learn being with mom longer and then it is very small. But you are an experienced Yorkie owner and Eddie can help in the social skills area. Good luck. Hope it works out for the best. |
Can you imagine...."Excuse me, but i have to take pictures and post them on my computer to let 4,000 people tell me what to decide." YO Mike! Set those people in front of the computer so they can get a lecture on releasing pups too early. Yeah its tough work cleaning up all that teeny tiny poop for that extra month. |
