 |  I would take everyone's advice and find a way for the breeder to keep your puppies with their parents until they're at least 12 weeks old. It's not just a myth, but it's true that they develop behavioral issues when they grown up if they leave their mommy too soon.   
Also, during this time you may want to read *a lot* about dog training. It's true that many say it's best to have one of each gender, but many also say it's easier to get puppies that are 1 to 2 years apart. I know several people who made it work getting two puppies at the same time. The only thing is the amount of headache you'll have to manage while potty training (and obedience training) them *at the same time*. For myself personally, I found it was helpful to have my first well trained before getting my second.
