Yorkie stroller! Help please! Hello friends, I am in a search of a good stroller for my female Yorkie. Can someone suggest one that is happy with? I have a friend of mine who bought some cheap one and with the time he had to replace it. That is why I prefer to spend some more but to get a reliable stroller. Thank you! |
We like the Guardian Gear strollers like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007WMZ7XE...a-278270522535 Three wheels and inflatable tires are very important for having a smooth ride. |
I got one for Gidget at PetSmart. Works fine for us. |
I much prefer four wheels, and quite frankly, feel the cheaper ones are fine. I have used this particular style for years. I have 2, one in pink and one in leopard print. It is very roomy and I can put up to four pups in it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Leopard...0AAOSwEK9Tw34Z |
This Guardian Gear looks very well made!Thank you! Will consider it for sure |
Hi yorkiedaddy17. Big stroller fan here; invested in two strollers (both by PetGear) say 15 years ago. The strollers with three large wheels seem to have the best maneuverability (by far). See comment by pstinard, above, about inflatable tires. The tires on mine are not inflatable. While my strollers have zippered closures, many newer models feature clips or other mechanisms that don't involve a zipper. While my zippers are still in good shape, they are a hassle to get started (have been since day one). The no-zip feature will only be a consideration if you actually close up the stroller frequently. |

This one on ebay looks ok as well |

Thank you for the clearing the difference about three and four wheels! So I guess PetGear should be a really good brand if you still have them after 15 years of using! :) |

Your mileage may vary; your needs may be different. I found stroller prices online to be more competitive, but I would definitely shop local stores and see them in person to check out how easily they maneuver and collapse. |
This is the one I have that I absolutely love love love. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It was worth every penny. I find the handles on most strollers to be to short but this one is adjustable. This is their website where they still list it Pet Strollers – IBIYAYA. I have been through 3 different strollers. The one with air tires lasted only a few weeks and the first one I bought which was a cheap one Callie found a place that wasn’t zipped and got half way out. |

I totally disagree about the 3 vs 4 wheels. I have heard a lot of complaints about the 3 wheeled ones. I don't care for them and find them not to be as easy to maneuver. My suggestion is to go to a store if you can and try them each out before buying one. |
As to a bumpy ride...not sure where you are going, but I know I don't take my pups out anywhere where I have those concerns. I mostly go to stores ... and out on sidewalks. Never an issue . I also don't ever have to deal with flat tires. I would not buy one with inflatable tires...but, that is just MY opinion. LOL I hate anything that could be a problem later. Flat tires are not my thing. |
LOL one final note....I always buy with zippers because they can get out of the ones with velcro and if you don't notice, could fall out and get hurt. Again, my opinion. On the stroller I posted, the zippers always work just fine. Cheap...but have used them for many years.....MANY LOL. I have replaced them but only because they got faded. |

Well, thank you all for the suggestions! I now have all the important features to consider. As you said, it is best to go and check in the store I guess and then would most probably purchase the model online because they are usually much cheaper. |
I don't have a stroller but did a lot of researching and reading because I want one. What I read about 3 wheels is they tend to tip over sideways, IDK if it was because of a heavier dog or an active one, so a 3 wheel is out of the question for me because when my kido who is 12 Lbs. sees another dog he gets kinda crazy and could tip over a 3 wheeler. I would prefer 4 wheels that are inflatable for a smoother ride, now reading about getting a flat, something that never entered my mind lol, now will be looking for solid tires with shocks. I would not buy on line unless I have seen it in person and checked everything out for safety. |

If you are able to view an array of strollers, suspect you'll easily spot the differences in engineering. I'm sure there are three-wheelers less stable than four-wheelers, but I know from experience the reverse is also true. I've been on the hunt for a while now. Before introducing a new little-one, we plan to replace the stroller kept at my sister-in-law's home. I have not decided whether we'll take Katy's red-rider (red PetGear) over there and buy a new stroller for our place. I also want the stroller at their place easy to pop in the back of my car. Another note ... Katy loved, loved, loved her stroller. Remembering the good times we had with that stroller brings a smile to my face. There she was able to look all those big dogs squarely in the face--becoming the lion-sized dog she always knew she was. :) |
Lots of good and bad experiences with strollers. Guess it all comes down to what works for your and your baby(ies). Seems to end up being a personal preference. Do like the idea of going to a store where you can actually try one out before buying. |

I think it all boils down to what you want to do with the stroller. For me, the cheap one is just fine...it is the roomiest I could find where I could take up to 4 or 5 pups at a time and it maneuvered well on the surfaces where I took the stroller. I had no plans to take it on the beach or hiking. That brings up something else.....I would not buy one with inflatable tires if it was for hiking because you could end up in the woods somewhere with a flat tire and have to drag that thing back home. So.....just think long and hard about what you need before deciding is my advice. There are also MANY threads on here if you search for pet strollers and you might find more helpful hints. |
