Just an update: Cocoa and I flew to Canada March 22, 2018 and she did great. No one even knew I had a dog on the plane. She was so quiet. I was so proud of her. We flew home March 31st and the same thing...good as gold. In Minneapolis on the way back, the security people told me that since she was so well behaved, I didn't have to keep her in the carrier at the airport. The people at Burger King even made her chicken nuggets before lunch time. It was a great trip.

I was told in Nashville, TN at the airport that United is no longer accepting pets due to what happened. We flew Delta.

I don't think a bright colored tag would have prevented the Frenchie from dying. The flight attendant knew it was a dog.

Suspect the new tags are meant to both identify the nature of the carrier and serve as additional caution.

CNBC article, "United Airlines: Owner of dog .... told flight attendant," reports the pup's mama told the attendant about the dog. United Airlines claims "the flight attendant ... did not hear or understand the woman."

Hadn’t heard that. I wonder if she is just claiming that to not look bad. Who knows. It’s so important for owners to speak up for there pets.

I noticed on Facebook that one airline is banning certain breeds.

Read the article...and felt my heart sink reading about the Frenchie again.

He was only 10 months old. It's too tragic. Poor baby...

Yes, American Airlines has a policy that brachycephalic, or short nosed, animals can not be transported as cargo. They do not limit them if they are flying in-cabin.

They are also banning breeds with what they consider strong jaws.

Yikes! I didn't see that on the AA website. It only listed the short nosed breeds of dog and cat.
