$200 Yorkie in the classified There's a Yorkie listed in our classified section for $200. All it says is neutered male, has all shots and is friendly. No idea of age or pedigree. My question: If I like him, do I have a right to seek a health guarantee? He's so cheap, I can't imagine asking for a new-pup clause if he's sick. But how about a money back clause if I take him to the vet and find out he's sick? For that price, it's not really about the money, but I want to make sure someone's not unloading a sick dog on me. |
When people offer them at those prices they most likely offer no guarantee but you can give it a try. I think it would be pretty hard though for that price. Good Luck! |
Absolutely. You have the right to ask and of course the seller has the right to say no. I would get all of the info about the furkid I could -- ask all questions that come to mind and look him over very closely, you are certainly smart enough to rule out the obvious such as a limp or wierd behavior. Then, if you are still intested in the little guy, then have the seller agree to let you take him for a thorough checkup. Your vet should be able to do some simple blood work and take a close look at him for congential problems. Oh boy oh boy, is Eddie gonna get a new little brother? :yorkiesar |
You never know what circumstances the sellers might be in. Sometimes folks get in a tight situation and have to find quick ways to raise a little cash. What better bargin would be a healthy Yorkie for $200. You never know until you ask. Good luck! |

That is exciting!!! Looking forward to a follow up! I think Eddie would LOVE a playmate :) |
That is exciting! I hope you get him! That is an excellent price. |
GOOD LUCK !! At that price he's going to go fast and I hope you can get ahold of them ! I bet Eddie would love to have a yorkie brother - |
yorkie for sale Take the Yorkie and Run! |
Doesn't hurt to ask for a health guarantee. I adopted Dixie for less than $200.00 and she is perfectly healthy. Go check him out! He's neutered too! Definite plus and one expense you won't have to worry about! Keep us posted! I hope you get him! :D |
What an amazing find in the paper!! I would think you shouldn't have any problem discussing with the owner that the sale is contingent on a vet check showing good health. Maybe get this in writing or ?? (I'm not a lawyer and don't really know how all that works) WOW! I'am so excited for you. Just think, a fur Brother for Eddie. :p |
Wondering If Eddie has a brother, yet?  |
You are a good man to wait!! At that price it would be pretty hard to ask for a health guarantee but you could tell them you are concerned about health and wondered if you could check with their vet . If they say "no" you may have saved yourself alot of heartache. Just a thought. |

just a basic check but with their vet, tests will show up that may have been given to determine an illness. Good Luck, my friend, I wish you the best but I don't want you to get stuck either. |
Oh how exciting!! Can't wait to hear more!!! Good Luck!!!   |
Arrggh. I slept in! Just called. Bad news is he's older than I wanted. A 5-year-old rescue whose owners moved away. Good news is he has been vet-checked and has a health guarantee and return policy. Sooo, I don't know what to think. I wasn't the first caller, so they're going to call back if a 10:30 appointment doesn't want him. I'm leaning against it, but will let you guys know... |

5 isn't bad. You could have a potential great 8 to 10 years, give or take. But go with your heart and head. |
Oh come on Mike! Eddie would love to have a brother! :D There's nothing wrong with a 5 year old, he's still got 8 - 10 years, maybe more, left in him! Let us know what happens! |
Hmmm, you guys think so? I'm just wondering if he'd boss Eddie around. I always heard it's nice for the second dog to be younger so your first guy (favorite!) doesn't get pushed around. Maybe that's just silly. Oh well, I'll play it by ear. They probably won't even call back. |
I know what you mean about not really wanting an older one. Personally, for me, I like having the puppy-one year age so I can be sure I get the adequate training, socializtion, and everything that comes so much easier with a younger guy. But go with what you think is best for you, your own furbaby, and your family. |
Eddie, I would listen to my heart, if it were me. Good luck with your decision making :D |
They gave him away. :( |

Mike I am sooooo sorry for keeping you up so late!!!!! :( But I am guessing it just wasn\'t meant to be. Just keep looking!!! Now that you\'ve got the urge to get a bro for Eddie, don\'t quit now! :p |

Nah, I was leaning against it when I heard the age. Not that 5 is old, but I like the idea of training them from a pup. Oh well, next time I\'ll get an alarm that works. |
I can\'t see anyone selling a dog without letting you visit a vet and making sure it is healthy. I would ask to do that. If they wouldn\'t let me to do it, I\'d pass on getting the dog. PLUS - anyone selling a dog should be upfront about it\'s health in the first place. And -- they should let you know honestly why they can no longer keep their dog ---- but, it might be a pup. Wouldn\'t that be great! Carol Jean |
