ears first of all i'm a new yorkie mom so i really appreciate yorkie talk. my question is about ears, my Buttons is now 4 months old and one ear stands up straight and the other stays flopped down. is anyone else's like this, should i do something or leave it alone? |
Welcome to YT, keep the hair off her ears, shave them or trim to very short, hair adds weight, the less hair on ears makes it easier for them to be straight. You can also tape the ears to make them straight. |
Welcome, i also have two little boys at 17 weeks myself. The smaller of my boys had two floppy ears until two weeks ago then they started standing up overnight one day! i also kept the ear hair fairly short (1/4 inch maybe) and i am wondering if it had anything to do with me granting access to lamb ears which came in the previous week roughly. they love those things and cant stop chewing them until completed, maybe strengthening of the muscles in that area helped? i don't know but happy their ears are solidly up now! they get one maybe every three or 4 days now as they are a bit rich for the diet as per whats coming out the other end :) Anyway i think short hair on those little floppy ears is the best choice :) |
I agree to keep the hair on the ears short. I've also read that daily massaging the flap of the ear helps too, as it helps circulate blood to the area to help the ear stand up. |
I'm a fan of leaving them alone but you can shave all the hair on them and if you really want them to stay up you can tape them but that kinda sounds horrible to me. I have one with ears up, one with ears down, and one that used to have one of each but they stay down pretty much now. |
If you want them to stand, I'd do something asap about it: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...-stand-up.html |
