| Duchess knows a lot of words.....the better question is how many will she respond to: Most of the time she ignores me unless food or outside is in the sentence. |

| Probably at least 10 for Max and Sasha. Does anyone else have a dog that knows when he is guilty? I will find "an accident" in the family room that is not on the pee pad. I will look at Max and in a low monotone voice say"Who did this?" He pulls his ears back, puts his head down and stares at the ground and then VERY SLOWLY turns around and walks out of the room every time! He knows he is guilty and he won't even look me in the eye! It is hilarious!

| Cody knows appox. 15 or 20 words, mostly commands and trick, but he knows full sentences, I tell him, "let momma fix your hair " and he comes lol, if I am on the sofa and he's pressed into my thigh, I tell him "let momma get up" and he moves lol, when it's time to eat I ask him "you hungry, you wanna eat?" and off he runs to sit in the doorway of the kitchen, he knows he is banned from the kitchen and will not go in lol. There are a few other sentences he knows. GUILT lol, I come into the living room and there's the boy, ears flattened against his head, head down looking at the floor, he really is a perfect boy so I think what could he have done, then I see the confetti lol, he got hold of the tissue box lol. I never scold him when he does this which isn't often, hey, it's a yorkie thing. I have to assume his prev. owner scolded him and he has not forgotten.

| Too many! Sunny responds to all different nicknames (Sunshine, Sunny Bunny, Sun Sun, Suns, Precious), he knows 'brush' and 'tangles' means run and hide, he knows all our family's names, 'pretzel', 'chicken', 'dinner', 'hungry', 'dessert', 'treat', 'biscuit', various commands like 'sit' and 'go pee'...He even knows slang- my dad will ask if he wants to take a whiz and he responds! He knows his different chew toys, he understands when someones home, when my dad asks if his 'tummy hurts' he knows that means he gets one of his favorite biscuits...The other day my dad said "I'm going to go change my shoes" and he looked down at his feet! My other one could spell- 'b-a-s-e-m-e-n-t' and he'd run to the basement door. 'R-i-d-e' and he'd run to the garage door. |

| I'm pretty sure Callie knows every word in the human language, I'm not even joking she pretty much understand everything I say. I can talk to her like any human and she does what I say.

| The 'short list' here would have to be the words these three Yorkie kiddos have NOT learned. Geez...forget verbal conversation...we're practically texting here now, and they've got smart phones on their Christmas lists.

I think my two know a lot of words too. Aside from basic & tricks commands...I think they know "hungry" very well. Whenever I feed them, I always ask if they're hungry. So, now no matter what they're doing, they'll stop in their tracks if they hear that word. Haha.. They also know to freeze when I ask in an interrogative tone, "what are you doing?". I always ask them what they're doing, whenever they're doing something they shouldn't be. And so, now whenever I ask that, they always freeze and look at me bashfully like they know they're doing something wrong. It's so funny to me...

YT 1000 Club Member | Rowan knows a ton of words!!! He knows his trick command words and he also knows the basics like: Outside, bed, night, car, ride, Lowe's. I would say his vocabulary understanding is pretty good. Unfortunately he knows Work as well and goes and pouts when I have to go to work.

Funny! My friends and family think I am strange. My grown children are jealous. My husband thinks I'm cooing at him! lol My yorkie truly understands me. Seriously, our little girl knows more words than I can count - basic obedience commands, toy, bear, high-five, go potty, banana, carrot, let's go, motorhome, El Dorado (the name of the motorhome), bedtime, jammies, walk, outside....... and she reads our minds. She knows when it's bath time without us saying a word and pussyfoots behind the chair and peeks out. No shame this one - thinks she "deserves" a good tissue chew! Don't ya just love yorkies!!! | |
