advice please Hi guys i have my little one booked in the vets this week for a loose tooth to be extracted they said they would have to put her under anesthetic which i am worried about i asked if they could just sedate her and pull the tooth out as it is really loose but they still saying to put her under and have her teeth scaled and polished don't know what to do |
anesthesia is perfectly safe especially if you get pre surgery blood work. |
hi i asked about pre bloods and was told they don't do it unless they think necessary i'm new to the area where i am so not my usual vet what do you think regarding the tooth me personally cant see why they just can't just sedate and pull it rather than put her under |
How old is your little one? Has she been spayed yet? Because most vets would suggest that they pull out all the baby teeth when they dog needs to be put under anesthesia during the surgery anyway, usually between 6 to 8 months of age. Or is this an adult tooth we're talking about? In which case, are you concerned because of your dog's existing health issues that might be complicated by anesthesia? If your dog is healthy...it shouldn't be a problem. |

Was her most recent bloodwork done recently...? If not, then DO get it! Anytime you put an animal under, you should have per-surg bloodwork done. And *always* ask for IV fluids to be given during surgery, at all times. |
