Well, the first 3 callers suck, but I must say the 4th caller wasn't too off base. There are warnings posted all over the net about having the breeder send pictures to you of the pup other than what they are using to advertise with...... Angie |
Gee, I'll never be nervous about calling a breeder again, I know I don't sound THAT ignorant. :rollingey (or rude.) |
A friend of mine has this problem all the time. Recently she had 1 phone call just the same but asking if they can have a pup for 300 dollars. She also got an email from someone saying Im interested in your product aqnd would like you to mail me the puppy.I live in the UK and will send a money order for payment. Whats weird is that he called the babies a product and who pays with a money order from that far away.I told her its a scam with the recent scams that have been popping up.Most people that call her for a pup are just like that. They call like you are a pet store just questions and no friendliness. She stays away from people like this. If the phone call is cold then their not going to get sneak peak at a picture. As the little cuties are running around its hard to give your babies away to someone that you dont know .Its hard for me to see them go and their not even mine .good luck with your future phone calls. |
I'm nervous searching for a dog Yikes! I could never be a breeder and have to go through that. I've been so nervous just searching for the pup that I want. I had specific things that I wanted from the breeder. I called two people from the paper and they were insulted that I would ask questions about there lines and health and what they feed and so on. I did most of my questions by email. I figured, if the breeder was really interested, he/she could respond to the questions he/she wants to. I had some breeders say they were impressed with my knowlege and research and some I could tell thought I was crazy. I found one woman who seems so nice. She emails me a lot (I think my pup is in this litter). I am STILL nervous even after hearing good things about her because I have never done this before. Especially because she lives 5 hours away and I have not got to meet her or her dogs in person yet. I had a nightmare about it last night. Anyways, price was never an issue. She will probably be over $1,000 but she hit most of what I wanted on my list (well, that is if she is being honest I have no way to prove it) and she seems to have a good reputation. I am VERY limited in my funds and $1000 is A LOT of money to me. I am going to have to give up some other things this year because I don't want to drain my savings. I will pay the price for what I want and my house is just too empty to not have a Yorkie here. Following my dreams without my furry buddy next to my side just doesn't seem right so I decided that it is worth it for me to spend the $$. My first questions weren't even about money. That was the last one. suzie |
Sometimes I receive phone calls like : 1 ) Hello , What is the price of your puppies ? I am very poor , is it possible to have a breeding quality puppy for $200.00 or less ? You know I will giver her all the love she needs . 2 ) Hello , Is is possible to have an auto-cleaning puppy ? I heard that this breed of dogs don't need to have a bath ? 3 ) Hello , Someone gave me your name and phone number . What is the price of your puppy ? I want him or her as small as possible ? I want the puppy with a full floor lenght coat and champion ? Sometimes those peoples tell me that I know nothing about the breed and they will buy somewhere else . Some phone calls can be very annoying . |
Geez, I suppose there are people all over that speak like that but it still surprised me. Most of the experience I have had with Oregonians they are much better spoken than that! |

[QUOTE=Olivier]. 2 ) Hello , Is is possible to have an auto-cleaning puppy ? I heard that this breed of dogs don't need to have a bath ? Are they thinking that a Yorkie is like a oven . Peoples can be really stupid from times to times . |
I'm amazed at the things people ask! Some people can be so rude...I can't believe they didn't even say hello or introduce themselves to you. I'm sure those are automatic NO's! |
It's so sad, some people just don't have a clue!!! They have way too much time!!! |
 I get those kind of calls all the time. I just love it when the caller doesn't say anything more than "how much are they?" I tell them and they're absolutely STUNNED!! They say, "HOW MUCH?" Or "Oh my!" And hang up. Then there's the ones that say, "I'm on a fixed income and can only afford $100.00 or $200.00, so if you don't sell them all, can you call me back and I'll pay you then?" My ad's usually say something like: "AKC Yorkshire puppies. 3M, 1F. blk/tan. Tails docked and dew claws removed. Call _ _ _ _ _." People call and say, "Do you have any males? What color are they? Are they registered? What's a dew claw?" I have caller ID and when they start calling, I usually let my machine pick it up and call them back. You can usually tell by the message they leave whether they're serious or just looking. I really like the people that say "Well, I can buy one at so-in-so pet shop for $XXXX!! I tell them if that's what they want to do, I wouldn't recommend it, but go ahead! It gets nerve racking at times. Suz |
Looking is tough too I must say finding a good breeder is tough also! I called one guy and the only thing he could tell me about the puppies was how big they would be. I wanted to know more personal stuff about the pups but he gave me nothing! That is kinda scary. Then another lady I emailed just told me to 'pick one from the website and then come and pick it up." Honestly, I have a budget too, mostly because I am also thinking about the expenses AFTER I get my baby, does this sound alright to say to a breeder? Are there good breeders out there who do not just care about money (I am not judging any of you who are breeders, just want to know how people feel about that)? I mean, I am willing to spend around $1000 and all, but much more then that and I am broke. |
