| ![]() I fed Gidget, who turned 1yr in Jan. Eukanuba from puppy to adult food. Lately, she wasn't really eating much, less than 1/3 c per day but I thought it was because she is so little--weighs 4 1/2 lbs. When she ran out of Eukanuba earlier this week, I decided to get Royal Canin for Yorkies. Well, since then she wants to eat all the time. In the morning I give her 1/3 c. and then 1/3 c at night which is a little over the recommended amount for her weight. I gave her 1/3 c at 8:00 this morning and now she's standing at her food bowl barking because she wants more. Should I give her what she wants and assume she needs this since she wasn't eating very much before. HELP |

| ![]() I'm guessing she really likes the Royal Canin lol. I would just give her the recommended amount because you don't want her to get overweight. It could be health related but she seems to young for that.

| ![]() I'm thinking she was just really hungry. She's been playing more and more this week. Before she would play for a few minutes and then go to sleep for a couple of hours. At lunch time, I gave her some frozen green peas just to satisfy her and not give her more dog food. She ate that and it seemed to satisfy her. My other Yorkie who died at 14 was NOT a big eater. I always thought I was starving him but he just didn't eat a lot. Sometimes, he would finish 1/3 c over the whole day and sometimes he didn't. So, I guess I was just thinking that Gidget was the same way. Now I know better. Thanks for responding to my concern. |

| ![]() I've heard there are ingredients in Royal Canin for Yorkies that are very enticing to dogs, that may be why she has an increased appetite. But I agree with Lovetodream88, you should only feed as per recommendation by weight otherwise she'll become overweight.

I came on to ask about ginger. I had some and she was licking my fingers before I realized some trace amounts were on. she was even nibbling on my thumb nail. Remember, hehe, I know it's perplexing; just remember that it might make her mad if you don't give her more, but, that's about it. Definitely doesn't sound like she's starving. | |
