Problems getting "naughty" with toys My two boys aren't fixed, and unfortunately, my pooch Prince Harry has a terrible habit. He likes to pull the stuffed rabbit toy he has out and "abuse" it so to speak. I am unsure of what to do. Traditionally I've been correct the behavior, telling him no and pulling the toy away, but he often will just switch to either his bed itself or a shoe. He might just need to crank one out, so to speak. So how do I handle this? Do I just let him "finish" and write that toy off and tell nobody to touch it? |
I knew it wouldn't take you long before you started your nonsense AGAIN IH. |
I'm sorry? I'm sorry, what do you mean? This isn't nonsense, I need some guidance here. The corrections I am using aren't working, and I am hoping somebody has encountered similar issues with their dog |
I mean, the subject matter could offend some so I was extra careful to not use language that would both or make folks feel uncomfortable! But I still need help with this "problem". I'm a donating member, I should be allowed to solicit advice from other Yorkie owners who may have encountered similar issues. And I didn't use any inappropriate language in my post! |
Yep, saw this coming...And your confused innocent routine in response to Matese comment does not ring true. |

You went from "I hate yorkies" (IH8yorkies) to "yorkieYardApe" everything at this point is trolling as far as I'm concerned. |
It's not about money. It's about being a part of a community, loving yorkies, and being productive. Who said anything about money excluding yourself who keeps bring it up? Btw it's like $25 not 25k get over it! |

I chose a name for my little monkies when they play in the yard. What's wrong with that? |
Additionally, I used zero foul language and demeaned no members of the board in my original post which has a very legitimate question. I am a little unsure of what I did wrong here? |
I would say no and stop them in the act. |
Just because you are a donating member does not mean you cannot be banned if or "when" you start with your rude replies, I see you are just getting warmed up. AKA YorkieH8ter you were already banned under that name. |

Putting bitter apply spray on his toys kind of defeats the purpose of giving him toys, no? |

Very well indeed". All my big dogs train to a high level of obedience. My Yorkie has only beginner level obedience. |

Pictures of Sir Ivan and Prince Henry would be nice, we all LOVE pictures. |
Try putting some pennies in a water bottle, when the dogs are doing something that you don't like, shake the water bottle, give a firm no and redirect the dogs. |
Honestly, I would not stop the behavior - is it hurting anything or anyone or him...? 2 of my boys have a "stuffed lover dog" who they take on "dates". And that's just fine; they're not hurting anything and they clearly have some sort of need/instinct they want to act on. My girl dog, Pfeiffer, humps her donut bed almost every morning. *Shrugs* - I don't care. She likes to do that, and again, it's not hurting anyone or anything. I honestly never understand why people are so very concerned in repressing a *natural* desire in animals. It's not like they're humping people's legs. In the 12 years I've had my current dogs, never once has an attempt been made to hump a human. So my opinion, obviously, is to leave it be. :) |
Right on, Ann! As the quote goes...."So long as they don't do it the streets and frighten the horses...(sic)" |
Wookie does it too, but only to 'Big Dog', which is a large (bigger than her) stuffed toy dog she has had since we got her. She usually humps it after she's given it a good shaking and dragging round. The humping only lasts a few seconds. Apparently in females this can be a dominance thing. I guess she's just showing Big Dog that she's the boss! :) She has never done it to any other toy, real dog or human, so I don't worry about it. |

You always know exactly what to say :p! |
Last Christmas Santa gave Cody a BIG plush teddy bear, the first thing he did was hump it lol, I told him in a firm voice noooooo humping and took the bear away. 3 months later I took it out and sat it next to the toy box lol, when he saw it he stared at it and gave it a nasty look, you see, Cody is a perfect boy and never gets scold nor do I have to use firm voice to him, the bear got him into trouble. Two days later he grabbed that bear and beat him to death, flung it all over the room then left it for DEAD. I sat it back by the toy box lol. Each time he passed it he gave it a dirty look lol. Every so often he will try to kill it, sometimes it lands between his legs, he'll grab it around it's neck then remembers he's not supposed to hump it lol, then the killing mode kicks in lol. He doesn't like the bear because it got him into trouble lol. |

That's a great perspective actually. I never thought of it that way and many of us don't. |
