How does your furkids let you know when they're out of food or water? My little boy will do a little whine where his food and water bowl is. Anyone else's kids do that? |
1 Attachment(s) I have the perfect picture of what Kyra does lol. Laddy whines and rattles his dish. |
1 Attachment(s) My Ace brings me his bowl. |
Their bowls are metal and sit in a slightly raised platform. Sasha does not have to do anything because the second the last piece of food is eaten Max takes his paw and starts BANGING the bowl! It never stays empty for more than 10 seconds because the noise is so irritating that one of us refills it immediately. Makes me wonder if I am the trainer or the trainee. :) |
One of my pups will go to her bowls and sit down and bark. She is not a barker so when she does we know she just wants food. My little pups don't bark but when I see them sniffing around on the floor looking for food that one of my 5 kids may have dropped I know that their food bowl must be empty lol |
chester stands by it and barks once or twice |
Ziva bangs on the kitchen door! It is all marked up from her jumping at it. |
Molly paws and barks at the bowl if her water bowl seems empty to her. It is kept at least half full all the time with fresh water but she likes it filled to the top. |
These are really cute stories. Not so much with food but with water, Emma will lick the side of the toilets or search for water bottles. Then I know she's out. |
Mine don't usually let me know, but I check their kibble levels several times a day to make sure there is food available as the Boyz are not good eaters. However, between 6-8 p.m. Riley will come to me & whine & scratch at me because he wants his evening snack, which all 3 then receive. He is very persistent too, so you might as well get it for him. Yes, he does have me very well trained! |
Great replies :) |

Mine don't do anything for water. I always have to keep an eye on the water dish. But I change the water dish once or twice a day, so that's usually enough. They don't need to do anything for food, because they're fed on a schedule. |
Duchess doesn't let me know she doesn't have any food but she well damn sure let me know when it's treat time and I haven't given her treat yet. Every night after dinner she get's her after dinner treat. If I don't give her a treat......man watch out. She starts with the staring, then progresses to whining , then it progresses to an all out attack. She won't leave me alone. A couple of times I ran out of her treat and boy did she give me the saddest looking puppy dog eyes I have ever seen. Let's just say I make sure to always have her treats. |
Lol Same here :) |
Cody is on a schedule but 20 minutes before it's time for his food he will sit and STARE at me, I ignore him, then he starts to whine, I ignore him, then the DEMANDING barking begins, I still ignore him, now he's frustrated and jumps on the sofa kissing and nibbling my lips, THEN I tell him "it's not time, you have to wait" then the argument begins, thank goodness it's only 5 minutes of his back talk before "it's time". With all the whining, barking, arguing you think he is STARVING, but he eats so dainty, one kibble at a time lol, he is just soooo cute when he eats. He is never without water, I give him fresh water 3 times a day and a fresh bowl before bed time. Ya just gotta love these yorkies lol. |
