| Double coat? Is it possible to get a yorkie with an undercoat or is my 19mo growing a new coat in a different colour? So I had thought that I had one silk- and one soft-coated yorkie. The latter was super-soft as a puppy but now feels slightly less so compared to the 'silky'. I thought his was a soft coat as it has always been wavy and he has sooooo much of it that he gets hot easily rather than cold. It doesn't lie flat and he looks half the size at bath time. The coat grows out at the same speed as the 'silky' but does tangle slightly more easily now. He started to lose puppy colours before we got him at 8 weeks so by 8 months his roots were going a pale charcoal and his head was golden. Now since this summer his roots have looked very dark again compared to the remaining 2 inches of length. I got curious and had a look under bright lights but it isn't dark roots, its 1 cm of fine dark hair (it was definitely light roots last year). btw his silk-coat brother (also 19mo) is near-black with a tan face that still has some dark patches and a grey head So what do you all think? |
