What to do to help Henry 🙏🏻 On July 7th a breeder calls me and offerd me a 5 months old mail puppy he said his previous owner don't want him and wants to sell him .. He then sent me a cute picture and I couldn't Resest and I instantly boght him .. Problem was I was out of the country so the bleeder offerd to take care of him until I'm Back . I came back home on 24th August and next day I went to pick up my new pal .. I was so exited as I couldn't stop thinking of him for 6 weeks .. I met the so called breeder at a vet clinic ( wanted to make sure that his health was good before I take the 4hour drive back home ). So he arrived with Henry my new 7 month old pal and OMG!! Henry was so under wghit literary skin and bones .. His hair was so dry and was kind of bold you can see his skin .. He was so scared poor thing .. I know something was wrong .. I then asked about his vaccine and aperantly he took the viruses vaccine and dewarmed at the age of 5 months !!! ( that's when I bought him!! No rabies vaccine yet. So I took him to vet and turns out the pup has been beaten a lot .. Hasn't been eating enough and insects bites all over that cased heavy dandruff + hasent been exposed to sun for over 4 weeks . And he can't take the rabies shot because he is too weak. Henry didn't play with toys don't eat treats he don't act like normal puppy .. He is by my side 24/7 .. This week I was so happy to see him play with one of the toys and for the first time I saw him Chowing a bone .. Yes he is improving but he doesn't like people he fears all family members he is not social he panics when I leave he folowes me everywhere .. This is too exhausting now .. What to do? Dana |
Thank goodness you adopted this baby! Time and patience and love will help immeasurably. Give him all the reassurance and security you can...In your loving care, he'll become the boy was always meant to be; it may take a little while, but will be oh-so-worth it! |
OMG I was sick reading about his past. Bless you for rescuing this little boy. A LOT of patience and lots of love and praise. REMEMBER, this lil guy was ABUSED, beat, not feed, sure he's scared of people. If he has not as yet gotten his rabbi vaccine DO NOT take him out doors. He has gained trust in you because he feels the love you give him, yorkies want to be with their humans, that's why he follows you, gee I can't even go to the bathroom, my boy is always right there lol. Yorkies LOVE their humans, too many people at one time may scare your lil guy, if possible have one person make frequent visits to your home, have them ignore your lil guy, Henry will get curious and will come over to sniff your visitor, let Henry make the first move. Your visitor can also give Henry a treat. Everything you do with that puppy has to be done in "baby steps" slowly and gradually, to much of anything right now is to over whelming for him, he is not used to kindness and gentleness. Just be patient he will become the breed he was meant to be. Please do not give up on this baby. This community is here to HELP in what ever we can. |
First of all -- you are WONDERFUL and thank you for giving this poor pup a home! Clearly he loves you as you said he follows you around. He is learning to trust. The key here is patience. It sound like you are doing all the right things! This will take some time to undo! |
I think you are exactly what this puppy needs. I had a similar experience and I have to say, when mine finally turned around, she was one phenomenal, caring, intuitive, faithful, and loving dog. It took a long, long time but the effort was well worth it. |
pictuers 3 Attachment(s) Thank you all for your help and kind words Your advise will be seriously taken .. and I'm willing to go all the way and never give up on him .. he deserves better I attached picture of Henry 2 were taken on the day I picked him up And one taken last week He looks much better 🙏🏻❤️ Thank you again so much .. your replays ment a lot and gave me HOPE ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻 All the best Dana |
I don't know what to say...except you're Henry's miracle, for sure. The difference in him since being with you is breath-taking and nothing short of amazing. You two bring tears to my eyes, but in a good, good way. Looking forward to more pictures--he looks soooo wonderful---and you're quite wonderful, yourself! Oh, meant to add that Henry is a completely adorable boy--what a darling, smooch-able little face he has... |

What a change in what Henry looked like when you first got him, all I see is sadness in his eyes. The last photo, what I see in those little eyes is confidence, this little boy will do you proud. He is a beautiful puppy. |
Thank God you rescued that sweet bundle of joy and nursed him back to health. He looks wonderful. You're a lifesaver. BTW, my name is Dana too. :D Quote:

Honestly, the first two photos brought me to tears but the third makes me so happy. You are doing a great job with Henry. He is so fortunate you took him. |
What a difference in the first and last picture. Henry is just the cutest thing and bless you for taking him in and giving him the love and security that he needs. The first two pictures were heartbreaking. You are his angel. |
Thank you all for the great encouragement 🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 |
What a turnaround in such a short time , you will never regret taking on this little one he will give you so much joy and he will be so loyal to you for loving him. |
Wow! What a difference you have already made! So wonderful you saved this sweet boy! |
Oh poor Henry. He looked so sad in the 2 pictures. OMG the 3rd picture is just gorgeous. What a big turn around. You are a great Mom |

That being said, your baby is going to follow you around even without separation anxiety. My little gal is my shadow/tripper. These are such loyal little guys. I wish I had suggestions for you. I wish I could find the people that hurt that baby and have a little.. talk.. with them. With my bat. |

Time, time and more time, patience and praise. That last picture shows what a caring person you are. If there are dog parks or obedience classes available they are great socializations for them. |
So tragically precious! Thank you for taking care of this baby. I cannot fathom how anyone can be mean to animals. Since I'm on a public forum, I won't say what I think should happen to people who are. I'm simply going to be happy that this baby has to suffer no more. Good luck and enjoy the love! |
You are wonderful and Henry is so blessed to have found you. You are absolutely doing the right things for him to have made this much difference in the pictures you shared!!!!!! Love, patience, and more LOVE is what this baby needs. Keep up the Great job you are doing, you both will be blessed beyond measure.:D |
