And you think that justifies it? That there are ill bred larger yorkies? You can tell yourself that but it won't ever make it so. To intentionally ignore the fact that the breeder is bad is just asking for problems. I hope that doesn't happen for your puppy's sake.

I never said I wanted a teacup. I said smaller yorkie between 3 to 5 lbs. Is this a teacup? If it is then I guess I want a teacup lol It's sad I feel I have to defend myself now while I don't see what the fuzz is about now. There are tons of people who search for a smaller size or larger size yorkies for many reasons and there is NOTHING wrong with that. Teacups I know it's not healthy but as the yorkie is a range of 4 to 40 lbs it is very reasonable to want one leaning under a certain size of if you want one above a certain size as that is can play a factor to many people who is looking to get a new family member. As long as it's healthy and the bloodline is healthy I don't see why you have to talk about sickly or tiny puppies. I agree with you guys about teacups which means to me under 2.5 lbs but I'm not even getting one or want a teacup lol

I did. I definitely wouldn't buy from her. It wasn't personal at that point, as I didn't really have a basis like now. I would hope that her contract making sure puppies are healthy was more for caring, but you're right, despite that, she does the process of this.

oh no no no. Lady Jane is just trying to educate you. It's not recommended to breed smaller yorkies together. There are so many people who go in there to buy these guys and I'm one of them. Had I known I could have researched this jerk who sells these guys to brokers (my puppy) and ships them out to other states. I had to go through a gauntlet of tests because of her liver numbers. Thank God they are better and improving. It will save you worry and stress, and most of all, thousands. You seem like one that loves this breed as much as the rest of us. It's scary to see a any puppy, much less YOUR puppy that you love so much be sick with a genetic disorder or the issues breeding smaller pups together. If you look up either google or the search bar here, there is a post I recall from a breeder on here that says a responsible breeder will go back, well, a good number of generations back. If you've fallen in love with Marie, being a person that was chosen by my dog, I understand that instant love. Totally understand that. You could get information to ask questions and be prepared and informed on any thing that COULD go wrong. I could write for days about comments from uninformed people who have so much wrong information it makes me sad. Wrong post for that, though.

Lady Jane. I'm just saying that any type of puppy can be a risk. The breeder I picked does seem to have under 5 lbs yorkies but they are not expensive and family raised. Under 5 lbs does not mean unhealthy nor did he ever said his yorkies are small and therfore better. Besides where I live no one cares about teacups lol if I did wanted a super small dog I could just go for a chihuahua :p

Actually, teacup is not under 2.5 lbs. I would put it an under 5 pounds. You don't have to do anything...I didn't ask you to defend yourself.

I am telling you that you are looking for a problem with this breeder. This is not a reputable breeder. Does it mean your puppy will be ill? No, not really; but, I would say it is more at risk of being so. I don't care where the puppy is raised...in a barn or a home it isn't in the best interest of the pups to breed puppies the way this person is.

Sickly? I am not just talking about sickly...I am talking about puppies with congenital conditions and you will never convince me that this person is breeding healthy puppies. No one who cares about the breed would put a 2.8 pound female through a pregnancy.

Looking for 3-5 pounds is looking for under standard. No matter what tag you put on it....tiny, teacup...matters not.

I said it before and let me repeat myself. I shared my thoughts and my experiences with you.....and I don't wish that you will have a sick puppy. I hope your puppy is healthy. I just feel he/she is a high risk puppy is all. Your choice. BUT I am not going to just sit on my hands here and not warn you...or anyone else who might come along and read this.

Yes lady Jane I got your point. The.other litter was with a 2.8lbs mom and same 3lbs dad. 2 puppies are healthy and now 2.5 at 5months and there is one puppy left who is soooooooooo cute and sturdy too. But who knows if it does have problems later on. I don't know.

Under 5lbs a teacup? Hmm okay it is small but I always thought a teacup was under 2.5lbs so I'm wrong?

I hope Marie will.be fine being from a 5lbs mom and 3 lbs dad. I might be completely wrong about saying that I feel my breeder is reputable as far as my research on others and on this one but so far is the best breeder I came across not to mention lives nearby which I prefer. So my fingers and toes are crossed I'm not wrong about this one cause it's also a stressful search.

My boys are half-brothers -- they have the same mother but different (but very similar) fathers. They were purchased from the same man. My Zeus will be 2 in October and has finally hit 5 lbs. He had Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease, and the pain medicine gave him a bleeding ulcer. It has taken months to get my sweet boy's weight back up. My baby, Perseus, is 7 months old and already slightly outweighs his brother (he weighs 5.4 lbs.). Zeusy is very thin and lanky. Percy is not fat by any stretch, but is stocky built. They are the same height, but Zeusy just looks much thinner. You can feel their leg bones, and Percy's are larger than Zeusy's. I wouldn't trade my boys for anything. I love them both so much. I can carry them (one in each arm), or they both fit in my fabric sling carrier perfectly. I'm thinking of getting a stroller that will fit both of them for times when we take them places they can be pushed.

My best friend's Angel is 9lbs and never a day sick in her life. She is 11 years this year. Angel looks small but is heavy lol I don't know where she hides the weight! So you have like a BIG 5lbs and a small 5LBS. The poofy hair can also be deceiving lol

Strollers!! Haha i saw some people with strollers and my bf said he saw me with one of those one day with Marie. :p

Lol, actually while funny.. purchase one. People just come right on up and touch your dog. :eek: I've had to run DH into the wall quite a few times because some well meaning person comes stomping up. I think of that Jessica Rabbit spoof sometimes. "OH MY!!! A YOOOOORRRKKKIIIIEEE!!!" Instead of OH my it's a MAAAANNN. That's why Chews has taken to perching on my shoulder. She'll duck now before someone gets in her face.

To LadyJane: I did more research cause I just couldn't sleep anymore after what you said about the breeder. I'm paranoid about anything that has to do with Marie now. I do see your point with the red flag as he did breed previously a smaller mom than Marie's mom. It was the other pos. factors that I weighed down too which made me think he was okay. So I can only hope and pray that Marie will be healthy.

I would not buy from a breeder that used dams that small. Under 5 lbs is extremely risky. Even though your puppy is from the larger dam, he still breeds that tiny girl. Poor thing. I have a recent addition to our family, Bindi, who is a backyard breeder rescue. She is fat now, and I have no idea of her weight, but she is 1" shorter than Toto (who is almost 5 lbs), 2" shorter than Uni (who is about 7 lbs). At her ideal weight she should be in the 4 lb range. I could never imagine her being bred at her size. Yet she was bred again and again, until she was too old, and her "owners" didn't want her anymore. I can't image one smaller than Bindi being bred. That just sickens me. :(

I don't know much about breeding yorkies and I'm a new yorkie mum however I do know that surely weight shouldn't matter. And how come people estimate potential full weights? I saw my Addies mum and dad, dad was the heaviest and weighs 3.8lbs. Addie is 12 weeks old and is currently already 3lbs. So not likely to be mum and dads size.
Although mum and dad were small they seem super healthy :)
