Lexi was pretty comfy the first night following surgery. Maybe a bit more mellow and definitely wanting to be touching her people. But she did well. Hope all goes well for your little one. |

Onesies Margie, Yorkiefan (Cookie's mom) I appreciate your advise and comments . I'm glad to hear your little one Margie was comfortable the first night. I'm hoping that's the way my Mia feels. I've heard also sometimes they're in pain and shivering. Hopefully the vet will send her home with pain med just in case. She's also having her canines extracted she has double set of them. So it's a little bit more complicated. As for Cookie's mom your dog's name bring wonderful memories of my Cookie my other yorkie (boy) who passed away less than 2 years ago . I bought those gerber onesies that come in a pack of 5 a size larger than her bc the newborn size was just perfect but not long enough at the bottom to cover the incision site. Thank all for your concern and good wishes toward my Mia. I will be posting after the surgery and letting you all know how is going:) |

These pups bounce back pretty well from the spaying. Cookie looked pretty wiped out the first day but by the second she was her normal self... which meant I had to confine her to the bedroom with a baby gate to keep her from jumping. Sorry to hear you lost your pup a couple of years ago. My first yorkie Minnie died three years ago (that's her in my avatar pic) and it ripped my heart out. But Cookie healed it! |
Onesie Sorry to assume you were mom! I know what you mean about loosing one . My Cookie seemed to be fine he was 14 1/2 . He was acting a little tired but no other signs. We took him to be groomed on my BD and in the middle of grooming he started gasping for air. My husband rushed him to closest hospital they did everything they could but he passed away. The vet said he had a lot of fluid in his lungs. Probably a heart condition undetected. It has been and still is horrible both for me and my husband. We don't want to let any groomer touch Mia. So I guess that's why I'm so nervous about the surgery. She also needs her canines out, she has 2 sets so vet is going to do both |
1 Attachment(s) I cut a onesie like this, it worked really well. Since the edging with the snaps wasn't removed, it would still snap and hold the onesie in place, but she could easily go to the bathroom without having to remove it: |
Onesies Thank you so much for sending the pic. Let me ask you is that the bottom part of the onesie around the onsite on? If it is how did you know how much to cut? Did you guesstimate after you saw the incision at home? I'm sorry but I already bought the gerber onesies and tried it on her without the snaps cut a piece but there is a flap loose at the bottom. I just don't know where and how big the in incision will be. Thank you and I'm sorry for my ignorance. |
The part that was cut is the part that would have gone over the dog's (or babies) butt or backside. Nothing was cut over the part that covers the tummy. I just cut enough so that the tail would be out. |
Onesie Thank you so much. I got it. Will try it. I bought her size and one size bigger so it will be a little loose not rub against incision. |
How is she doing? Did she have the surgery? |
Surgery Thank you for remembering Mia's surgery! Yes she had the surgery she came home about 5 1/2 hours ago and refused to eat anything I have tried everything she likes, I bought the Nutrical. The thinn I'm supposed to give her pain med with food. I'm concerned because it's being over 24 hours without food. She had water and was able to urinate and deffecate. Tomorrow I will let vet know she's not eating. |

Here we go. A play by play of Cookie after the spay starts on page 3 http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...e-spaying.html |
Recovery Thank you for taking the time to look for the thread. I read it. I hope this thing with not eating at all goes away tomorrow as it happened with Cookie. I have tried everything she likes . She was alert but just keeps looking the other way when I offer her food. The problem is she hasn't taken her pain med, I have no way of giving it to her. She got up a little while ago and kind of day down and kept doing that as if she was in pain. Definitely not a good night I'm worried. |
Whining Could anybody please advise. Mia had her surgery yesterday. She was spayed and have 3 teeth taken out. Vet prescribed Remedyl to take with food. Mia refused to eat anything so I couldn't give it to her. She has been a little uncomfortable shaking a little bit whining very little . However this morning around 4:30am almost 24 hrs after surgery she got up and started whining kind of loud . I didn't know what to do so I tried the Remedyl with cream cheese and she took it. My concern is could the strong whining be pain even though she didn't show so much pain earlier? I'm concerned |
