Do you take your baby with you My husband of 55 years passed away recently and I got my Gidget shortly after that. She's my little companion, my support, my follower from room to room, she sleeps with me. I'd like to take her with me when I leave the house but don't know how I can do that. Do any of you take your little ones with you when you go someplace during the day? She's only 15 weeks old, but I feel so lost when I leave the house without her. Sigh! Any suggestions? |
I take my girl with me as much as I could. So I got several suggestions :) there are carriers that you can strap to yourself, strollers, purse carriers or even "purse" harness (where you can carry them like a purse). There's also car-seats/boosters. I have everything, myself, and am awaiting a stroller I just bought. I also find out about places that are pet friendly or don't mind pets. Aside from pet stores, I've found craft stores such as Hobby Lobby and Michael's are pet friendly. I think home depot is too but I do know that Lowe's stopped allowing pets. I remember seeing a list on pinterest on pet friendly places, but it's still advised to call ahead of time and be sure if they'll allow it as some specific store's management may not allow it. Also there's parks and stuff. I'd check the local areas for such places. Any place that serves/sells food will not allow pets and I know that service fields that are personal, like spas and salons, don't allow pets because of sanitation reasons, as well. |
Sorry for your loss :( My little boy goes with me all the time unless it's real hot and I have business to attend to If my little guy could reach his leash, we'd be gone all the time :) |
Penny goes with us whenever possible. She loves to be with us and is a little lady. |
Cooper goes with us as much as possible He is 9 months old and goes to work with me everyday. We travel 100 miles round trip to and from work so he is in the car a lot. We go to grocery stores, walmart, menards, home depot, Macs hardware, Scheels Sports, Pet stores and so forth. So far only one restaurant. I just walk in with him and place him in the shopping cart on a blanket and tie his leash so he can not jump out. We figure the worst thing that can happen is that they ask us to leave.... |
Jackson is a bigger Yorkie at 19lbs so I definitely don't carry him around, however I bring him almost everywhere he's allowed to go on leash. :) He's very well behaved in stores & loves to be with me. Any type of errands... I travel between houses a lot so he's often with me, so like little things like getting my oil changed, car washed, etc, he's always welcome at places like that. Downtown area here is very dog friendly- many stores allow dogs. Outdoor patios at restaurants... home/garden type stores, places like Home Depot, etc.... I'm very respectful. If a place specifically states no dogs, I do not bring him in. If I was ever asked to leave, I would leave respectfully. Any place that sells food I do not bring him in. Just be courteous to others, make sure your dog is socialized & trained, and be aware that not everyone likes dogs and you should be good. |
As long as Gidget is healthy and current on her shots, she should be fine. I take Piper with me to Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Ross, Big Lots and such. She is 9 lbs and for the most part walks on leash; I carry her in food sections and/or if store is busy. I also make sure she is clean and cute (well, geez, the 'cute' part simply cannot be helped, yes?!). I introduce Piper to anyone who is interested (but do not ever let anyone take or hold your Gidget--ever!!). My condolences for your loss and may God bless you and your little Gidget through this trying times and always. So very wonderful you have this baby to make life interesting, busy, and to remind you to laugh! |
So sorry for your loss! I take mine with me a lot. Will she stay in a bag? That's a gray way to transport her around if she will. |
I too am sorry for your loss. I do not have my baby Biscuit yet but - like many others here - I've purchased carriers for all situations that I can think of, where I can take him with me. Where and where I can I will have him with me. :animal37 |
I'm sorry for your loss of your husband. We try to take the boys everywhere we can because they love riding in the car and going places. Having 2 humans, one of us stays in the car when we can't bring the dogs in to a place, like the grocery store. Anywhere there isn't food, you can probably bring her in a carrier. |
I wish I could take them with me more places. But I trying to carry around two 13 pound yorkies on public transportation is no fun. If I had a car they would be going to more places. Also many of the stores and malls I go to do not allow dogs. |
I'm so sorry for your loss. We take our two everywhere we possibly can. Right now we are heading back to NJ from a vacation in SC and they are staying at the Hilton Garden in NC with us. They ride well in the car, secure in their car seat. |

So sorry for your loss. I take Cody with me when ever I can and where dogs are allowed, even if it's just to the bank. He loves the car and the attention he gets. As long as your baby has had all her shots take her. Just make sure they are pet friendly places. LunarBerry gave you lots of ways for her to travel with you, just a heads up lol, as a sweet lil puppy she will attract a LOT of attention and get LOTS of pettings. NO one can resist a wee little puppy. |
I take Tessa with me to most of the stores I go to. I have a black purse bag with net in front and back. She weighs around 3 lbs so most of the time they don't even notice. The ones that do are little children that stand at that level they'll catch her looking at them. She doesn't bark at them but does get excited when they try to pet her but can't because of the netting. My sister that worked at Walmart told me not to worry because they were told not to question the customers because so many people have service dogs for different reasons besides blindness. I enjoy taking her with me don't like leaving her by herself, she's 3 yrs but still my baby. |
