Manipulators How does your Yorkie get what he/she really wants? What do they beg for most? Max performs sits and head tilts. Or he brings me a toy. How do I say no to that? Teddy stands with his paws on my leg and looks at me with big, pleading eyes, "Pleeeeeaaaase." He can really tug at the heart strings. :D They do this for meals and outings. 7 years and I still cannot resist them. :) |
Wall-e will crawl up me and stare right into my eyes for treats, dinner, or just for me to wake up. It's like he tries to put me in a trance to get what he wants and it cracks me up every time! |
She learned the fourth day she was with us. She made this tiny whimper noise when we all left the room for a second. My husband ran out with a towel around his waist mother naked, my daughter ran down the stairs and I leaned over the loft and we all said, Are you okay?!!! ......that's all it took. She cocked her head to one side and every one gets squeals or whines. How she gets just ME to do her Majesty's bidding? Well, that's different! She fixes the same look she gave me the second i laid eyes on her, takes her furry paws and gently puts them over my hands (If I'm low enough) or coerces me, and she very gently nibbles under my nails or nuzzles my hands. |
Boomer will look at me and shake and whimper until he gets his way. He will continue to paw at me and eventually bare his teeth until I pay attention to him |
Uni whines and barks until I can't take it anymore. Usually she wants out or she wants food. Not as often anymore she wants to play. Toto only really bugs me when he wants us to throw the ball. He never tells me when he needs to go pee. I should be thankful Uni at least tells me when she needs to go. |
Maggie Mae is my Velcro baby. She cries whenever I leave the room without her......doesn't bark, just cries like her heart is broken. This, of course melts my heart immediately. Needless to say she is my shadow practically everywhere I go. When I am just sitting in the den catching a movie, Maggie is always on my lap and if she requires more attention she will come up.....her face to mine and play, "who can stare the longest without blinking". This again immediately gets my attention and usually means she wants a massage, which of she gets. She has me almost completely trained!! |
Barney is a big ole whiner. He cries until we give in. Anna "talks" to us. Her noise is between a growl and a whine. Very effective. My husband can move mountains for that noise. Willie just takes what he wants. He doesn't bother asking:) |

Scottie just stands in one spot and stares at me forever, like a statue. It's kind of creepy lol... Usually does that when he's hungry if I forgot to feed him dinner or something |
My pup is at the grab it and run stage. Her newest "grab its" are rocks from outside. After chasing her for 15 min. to retrieve one, I decided to trade the rock for a treat. Well, guess what happens ALL the time now........ |
They have us trained! Bentley whimpers or barks, usually for food or to go out. Porsche is the mistress of manipulators. She will whine this incredibly heart-breaking sound until she gets what she wants, which includes: putting a blanket over our laps so she can snuggle, to get a blanket on the couch arranged as she likes it, or just to be with one of us. |
Jackson 'sits pretty' often or will just stare at me and whine... LOL... I am such a sucker for it too. |
When Coco was younger, he use to lick my toes. Now at 2 1/2 year old, he'll sit in front of me and tap on my leg or feet with one of his paw. Usually his right paw. I believe I taught him how to shake hand and it grew from there on. Lola will come close to me and dance if i'm standing up. If i'm sitting then she will jump on my lap and lick me and tell me to give her a back rub! |
Piccolo will bark once to let me know I forgot to give her a treat after she potties outside. |
Cody will whine, sing, he is relentless until he gets what ever it is he wants lol. Ya just gotta love these little yorkies. |
lsd989 My Grand puppy Chanel just looks at me with those big brown eyes and it works every time. I think my son (Daddy) has given up . lol But , when he repremands her I have learned when she runs on Grammy's lap to just not as son says , coddle her . It's very hard though. She is a really good girl though. :aimeeyork |
Bella will run up and jump at me and kind of bounce off of my legs with her forelegs. Bailey will just climb until she is high enough to start licking and nibbling on my nose. Needless to say, gets my attention pretty fast! |
Mickey sits on the ottoman and looks at me with those beautiful brown eyes and if that isn't enough, he starts to cry. I can NOT refuse when he does that, as long as it is good for him of course. |
lsd989 I just want to say to everyone, all your babies are beautiful. :animal-pa Yes when Chanel cries Grammy has to leave I can't handle it . My heart just melts. She is a good little girl . I miss her living here. Need my own . :) |
1 Attachment(s) Duchess whines and does this. |

My boys are very vocal barking in the car, but I'm surprised that they don't bark or whine to beg. Max will "talk" to us like Astro or Scooby Doo if he has a hard time getting our attention, or he will bark for something important if we are upstairs. I'm loving these responses. Yorkies definitely know how to get their way! :D |
Finnigan whines and barks until he gets what he wants usually food or bed time. Gwenni will do a funny growl (we call it her gremlin growl) and scratch at your seat until you throw her toy for fetch. |
1 Attachment(s) What can I say...? A couple of little ga-ruffs and these big sparkly eyes that speak volumes---When she works this particular look, I'm pretty much a goner. Piper's will, Piper's way and I wouldn't change one iota of her mesmerizing little wiles! |

Bless you both--I was somewhat fearful that I'd been completely yorkie-washed and had totally lost all perspective regarding Pipe. I so love you lovely & loving gals! Amazing the power these little tykes pack--with the uncanny ability to wield that power at will---aiy yii yiiii |
lsd989 Well they all are precious. Your very lucky to have each other. A puppy is a lot of work as I am reading from the posts. I will take all of them before I make a decision. But pretty sure I am up for the task. After having Grand puppy I see where we made mistakes , and although we can't fix them she still is a really good girl. Nothing but the separation problem. I really don't like the cage thing but, if the crate keeps them safe and content at first then its what I will do with the door open I am not locking them up in it. No way. Really good tips and knowledge . Appreciate all of you helping me learn more. Thank you. :) |
