Where have you sneaked your Baby into? Have you ever snuck your baby into a no-dog establishment? I have! My baby has been to a Sushi restaurant in my purse type carrier. She was very quiet and really enjoyed the tuna we slipped her. We have been asked to leave Target. Maybe I will try the movie theater next.... Shhhhhhh! Don't tell on us! and we won't tell on you! |
Alllllllllll over... restaurants, grocery stores, clothes stores, malls, into canada ( :D ), the CN tower in Toronto, the movies, schools, and a broadway play. There isnt many places she hasnt been. |
what kind of carrier do you guys have? |

Asked to leave Target? Was she in your purse-type carrier? I did that once, but I wasn't asked to leave... I brought her to a local coffee shop that I visit daily once. The staff was friendly, they didn't mind. But this other patron in there had a major cow! He even threatened to stomp and squash my baby! My friend and I looked at him, thought he was joking (he looked "high"...) but he just went on and on. He said, "You think your dog is small, so special that she's allowed to come in?!" I told him to back off and if he did anything to my baby, I'd make sure he pay for it. Then, we left. Haven't been back to the coffee shop since. |
My brother-in-law owns a restaurant - he is definitely not a strict person- but has to draw the line at letting dogs enter the restaurant. It's not that he cares personally - but if the right person came in (anyone from the health department), and realized that a dog was there, - he could be heavily fined. Plus a lot of his patrons do care. He told someone with a pup one day that they had to take the pup outside --- and there there were a lot of disgruntled customers there - complaining about the dog having been there. Any of you care if you might cause another person to be fined (not a small fine either) because you snuck your pup into a place where it shouldn't be? I think restaurants are the most strict - that doesn't mean that a lot of the waitresses and other employees won't think your pup is cute. They don't think much about it sometimes - but then they don't have to pay any fines. Carol Jean |
Omg... The funniest thing happen to us...My husband planned a nice weekend in Portland Oregon for us at a 5 star hotel which didnt accept pets. My husband begged me to ask my parents to watch Mason however I was having None of that. So, I told him I would just sneak Mason in the room. My husband checked us in and then came out to the car to get the bags and Us. He told me he will be going in before us because he refused to get caught walking in with me with my baby. So, I stuck Mason in my backpack with his blanket and a few chew treats to keep him busy while I buzzed into the lobby and up a VERY long flight of stairs to our room. I couldnt take the elevator because it was ROSE PARAIDE WEEKEND In Portland which is a very busy time and the elevator was loaded with people. HAHAHA!! WE DIDNT GET CAUGHT!! :) |
i've never taken bunjee into an establishment that has a no-pet sign on the front door. bed, bath, and beyond for instance has a sign stickered to the front door regarding their pet policy. whole foods grocery store does the same. i can respect that. however, any place without a "no pet sign" i've taken bunjee with me in my purse carrier, including target, walmart, restaurants, jo-ann fabrics, the mall, macy's, bookstores, starbucks, public transportation, ceramic store, grocery store, etc etc. i usually walk him a bit before i put him into my purse to make sure he's not fussy. the only time he'd get fussy in the purse is if he needs to go pee/poo. and when he does come with me into any of those establishments, he stays in the purse. so no accidents on the store floor. personally, if he stays quiet, still and in my purse, i don't really see him as any different from a compact that's in my purse. |
Gus goes everywhere with me. I've taken him to church, the movies the doctors office,,, we go to alot of fast food places. I have yet to take him into a dine in restaurants. But all my local stores like the market, walmart, target the mall or any other stores know both me and Gus and welcome him as long as he stays in his bag, which is fine with both of us. Gus loves his bag. As soon as I grab my keys he runs to get in his bag. It kills me when I can't take him. He looks so sad just laying there in his bag watching me walk out the door. |
I have taken Cali in her purse carrier into Target, a card store, Marshall Fields and Lord and Taylor, two high end department stores. |
Anyone taking in more than one dog? I have 2 weighing a total of about 10 pounds, but I don't do much bag carrying because I'm always afraid of them being too crunched together or bumping up against each other. Although the few times I have carried them the dogs haven't seemed to mind. Am I being too sensitive. The one place they've gone interesting is our fancy Civic Center - My Bubba played the role of Toto in my daughter's dance recital this past summer. Roxie snuck in several times to see her partner danced across the stage in the arms of a Dorothy and Glenda the good witch! Sure didn't like the Wicked Witch saying, "I'll get you, my pretty and your little dog , too!!" |
I take Princess everywhere I go. She has a Puppy Stroller for most stores. They don't seem to mind. She's almost 3 so I guess we have been getting away with it for a long time. McDonalds even sells me cheese burgers with out the bun for her. :D |
I've managed to take Tino into Asda (UK part of Walmart), clothes shops, etc. But he wasnt allowed in Tesco. Was going to try the movies the other night but we ended up staying in. Would love to try a resteraunt but Tino hasnt learnt to sit still yet! :D |
Funny how I read this thread now, LOL. I'm about to head to Target w/ Ransom in his carrier. Sitting here now with thoughts of "hmmmm will I or will I not be asked to leave??" It's worth the chance. My feelings are that is if he is in his carrier then there should be no problems, people can't see him and it's not a restaurant etc. Now food establishments I totally understand, but then again if the pup is in the carrier whats the big deal?? I feel people track more germs in on the bottom of their shoes then carrying their fur baby while being in their carrier. Or those who don't wash their hands after using the restroom in food establishments, etc. Seems to be most pets are cleaner than many humans out and about. (Especially where I live, ewwww) I plan on trying the movies next. I mean it's dark and all and he's so quiet I doubt it would do any harm. He'd most likely just nap during the movie. I am guessing that with the popularity of more and more pet owners taking their pets w/ them into public places, more rules will be changed on where exactly pets are or not allowed to be. :p |
I only take Bailey places I know it's ok, dont want the whole confrontation thing. He goes to Lowes, and was a Walmart when he was wee little, surprising they didn't say anything. And I take him to local drug store, Drug Mart, all the time, they actually get mad, when I DON'T have him. LOL |
so far ava has gone to cvs & stop& shop in an old louis vitton tote! |
Well, I don't really try to "sneak" mine in because they are legally allowed to go anywhere I go since they are service dogs, but I also try not to make it a big deal so I am discreet. If anyone says anything to me I simply inform them that they are service animals and that is usually all it takes for them to leave us alone. I have had occasions however, one was a restaurant in Santa Barbara, where we tried to sit outside but the host sat other people there who arrived after us, and they were not going to allow us to go inside until I asked to speak to the manager and gave him a copy of the Service Animals in Businesses FAQ sheet (which I try to have w.me at all times) put out by the US Justice Dept. We were then promptly seated. I was also asked to leave a See's Candy Store and I didn't have the FAQ sheet but I simply told the 2 employees who complained that my dog was legally allowed to be there as a service animal. I made my ourchase and left. I use a dog stroller too which is great for transport!! |
SoCal-I didn't know they were service dogs. Which one(s) and what service do they provide? (Sorry guys, I really know very little info about this.) How do you train them? It amazes me that seeing-eye dogs know what they know. Ie, when it is OK to actually cross the road vs when their just aren't any cars coming  Always baffled me! |
Edie has been on planes, trains and buses (without paying), in a casino, in a hospital, stores galore (Target, the mall, Home Depot), and dozens of restaurants. SHe has stayed overnite in hotels where dogs were not allowed. She has been to the Hoover Dam (there are 'no pets' signs EVERYWHERE, don't ask me why) , |
Where I live our Yorkie's are pretty much aloud every where except the Grocery store, and indoor resturants, hospital, the obvious. The only place i know their not aloud but i brought them in without a carrier (so it was obvious) was the Grocery store and no one said anything. I'v brought them into Mr Sub and Subway (places like that) but it was just to make a sub and then leave (i didn't eat in there). |
Socal... do they give you some kind of card to show as proof, in case someone questions it,and you need to prove to them it's true? And have you ever had anyone doubt you, on it? Or give you a hard time? |
i took her to Eckerd, in a closed carrier, RoadioShack, Target ( she would NOT stay in the carrier, so I carried her), and a Diner- she just sat in her bag and didnt make a peep. And no one noticed i dont think. hehe But i want to take her EVERYWHERE! We're going to teh mall to a new doggie store tomorrow- so i hope they dont mind |

i agree- i am wondering too! |
Yes, ....all of mine are service dogs or are in training to be service dogs. It is really a life long training process and has wonderful benefits for the dog and the owner. Small breeds make the best service dogs because they are so easy to travel with and yorkies are a very popular breed for service dogs, but my Westie and my standard poodle are service dogs also. There are a lot of threads on YT that give all of the info. Here is one link:http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...t=service+dogs When you read the thread you will see that some people had a problem with me talking about service dogs for some reason that I do not fully comprehend so I am a little shy about it now :embarasse , but I am happy to help anyone who wants more info and contacts me by PM. I have helped quite a few members with qualifying disabilities get their dogs recognized and/or trained as service dogs under the law. It's very easy to do and I am always happy to help. :) |

Service Yorkies? Cool. What service do they perform? Do you usually put that yellow vest-thing on them? |

The law does not REQUIRE either however...it just makes life easier is all. |
KiKi KiKi 's been to alot of places, there are times I sneak her in, but there are times people just love her and let in, one time I got really angry because I took her to the Galleria ( a hugh mall in houston) and I was asked to leave but then the very next day I see like people do the same thing walking around.... |
Bouncer has been just about everywhere. lmfao |

Stomper is too big now! I can't sneak him in anything! hehehe! :D He was suppose to be 7 pounds! Boy did they make a mistake! I can hide Stomper in a LARGE suitcase I guess...but why would I want to do that! :D |
Harley goes pretty much everywhere. He has a carrier and a stroller. We use the stroller more just because people think he's an actual baby so it doesn't draw much attention. Although we did get stopped at Walmart trying to go in I didn't have his carrier or his stroller. I didn't want to leave him in the car especially since I was only going in for one thing. The lady acted as if she didn't see me and said that's fine hurry. You know some people always try to make it difficult if only she had done that from the start I would have been out quicker. |
