what kind of coat does my fur-baby have? I'm not sure if my fur-baby has a silky, cotton, or modified Yorkie coat. I've read multiple threads on the topic but it's still hard for me to tell for sure since Capone is my very first Yorkie. which is why I thought it would be a good question for the members here on YT. In one photo you can see his eye has a green eye reflection from the flash. But, his hair has never felt cold to me like silk coats are suppose to? He never gets many tangles, even if I don't brush him for a few days. His hair does get kind of stringy when he is in need of a bath, I don't know if that has anything to do with coat texture though lol. Please let me know what your thoughts are.

| I would say silky. I have a silky coated and a cotton coated yorkie. They are very different. My male very rarely tangles and doesn't need to be brushed often. His hair lays flat and grows very long. My female has very thick, soft hair. It tangles very easily and mats frequently. Her hair has more poof and needs to be cut more often.

Oh my word he is so handsome!!! I am curious to know too as you describe Monty's hair condition too. His rarely tangles and doesn't grow very fast. Last edited by Jellymint; 04-05-2016 at 06:01 PM.

Also, i have been researching the correct color marking on a yorkie. I was wondering if the muzzle's darker color is considered a fault? Just curious. Regardless, he is perfect to me and that's all that matters. But, I would like to know what is considered standard?

My Bella has a silky coat seldom tangles not even her puppy coat. Now Lily is still a puppy about 4 months and she is to be silky but her puppy coat get wee little tangles do you think that will change when she gets her adult hair Bellas puppy coat didn't ever tangle. If he never tangles I would say silky and he is cute

Capone gets the little tangles too especially on his face. I'm sure that's only natural for lily to have small tangles, MyBabyBella, but I could be wrong. JkPal, your Piper's hair, from your photo looks to be the exactly like capones.is pipers coat silky?

Piper's so pretty i would love to grow out capone's hair, but it starts looking stringy and thin to me. Also he makes a mess when he goes potty, so i keep him pretty short.
