Floppy ear... 1 Attachment(s) I don't think my last post went through, so here is the short version. Jessie is almost 13 weeks. Over the past couple days, her one ear has started to get floppy. Could this be teething already? She is chewing on everything. She's also been scratching at that ear. She has big ears, so I was surprised when they started to stand up without any coaxing. I trimmed the edges of the fur tonight, but decided to contact the groomer if they need clipped with electric clippers. Thoughts or experience to share? Try taping? Just a phase? Accept that her jumbo ears have a mind of their own? She's adorable in any event, but I'd appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. |
just a suggestion....my little guy has floppy ears, it started with 1 and then as his fur grew longer both flop, its because the weight of the hair, if i cut his ear hair short, his ears go up more. maybe keep the ear hair short, especially the top section of the ear, that might help... |

2 Attachment(s) my baby kupo had pretty big ears.. and when he started to teethe, his ears started to droop and get floppy... but his ears, they were being folded at the very base of his ears so if i taped it horizontally as what most do, it didn't really help.. i tried to fold his ears and tape, but he hated it.. (picture included.. in 1st picture, he looked so mad i just had to take a pic of it lol. it was first time being taped and i was trying things out. :P) the taping method that worked for me, was when i had his ears taped vertically. (2nd uploaded picture.) he was content with how it felt and didn't bother trying to take it off, compared to other taping methods i've tried lol. this method took couple weeks on and off, but it ended up working :) i didn't really like the tipped ear look so i kept the hair on his ears before the taping deal... but i changed the groomer and they happened to just trim it away.. :/ it may have helped the ear standing process though.. i'm not sure. |
LOL I think you posted the wrong pic? That gave me a giggle! |
If getting floppy and you do want it to stand, you may need to tape it.... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...-stand-up.html |

1 Attachment(s) I stopped by the groomers with her today. She trimmed her ears. The ear is standing better, but still has some wiggle in it. I think I'll try taping it if it's not popped back up tomorrow. |
Lovestiny...She's in the picture. She likes to cuddle with Buddy. If you zoom in, you can see her. |

As of today, both ears are perky again! It must have been the weight of the hair. I'll keep the taping instructions handy in case they get floppy again. Thanks everyone! |
