Hi all! Roxie is doing a lot better. She ended up with low blood sugar, which is SO scary! Brought her to the vet yesterday morning at 7AM. They started her on Hills prescription canned food and I had to syringe feed her every 2 hours for 24 hours. She is now eating kibble and I am supplementing not as often. She is feeling a lot better now. Thank God for Karo syrup! Thanks for the litter training tips! I think 12 weeks is a great idea to really kick in the training. |

Glad your little one is feeling better. It's so scary when they're sick. |
My Chi has used a litter box for years. Oliver didn't really pick up on it though. He uses the pads. What I did for Crystal was put a pad in the litter box with just a little litter over the top, so she would get used to it. I gradually increased the litter. Also, when I couldn't watch her I'd put her in a cage that was big enough for her to lay down, have a food and water bowl, and her litter box. The only two places she could go were her bed and her litter box. She chose the box and it's been wonderful. I don't use sand or cat litter. I use pine bedding pellets. They're bigger and when they scatter it's not such a mess. It's similar to something called Feline Pine. It's also similar to the doggie litter you can buy at Petsmart. |
Hi I use the pine pellets for my cats. I get mine from the Royal King it's is horse bedding it the same as feline pine but I get a huge bag for under $10.00. It saves me a lot of $$ because I am a freak about the litter box . I am always cleaning it.. |
I've started using the horse bedding pellets too. It's just like feline pine but larger pellets, and it's less than $6 for a 40lb bag at Tractor Supply. |
Thanks all! I am going to check out the pine pellets after I finish my Purina Dog litter. A lot less money! Roxie is feeling a lot better. She is starting to eat some kibble on her own, however, I am syringe feeding also.:) |
