| My Toby is turning 16 on October 8th. Steak dinner for him that night. He has the standard ailments. Going deaf, cataracts, knee pops out every once in a while so he limps. He has had a problem with osmosis. Another problem with stone. He was losing protein and blowing up like a balloon. He is on a special dog food for his diet, prednisone for the protein problem, and polycitrate for the stones. But believe it or not he is in absolutely great shape. |

| I went through this entire thread but I know there was a Sept. Birthday that we should celebrate. Please let me know if I missed you. I am so sorry but I have some very sad news for those that have not seen the thread already. One of our little senior members has died and it is Yorkiedaze's Delsi. If you could take the time to go to the Memorial forum and offer your condolences I'm sure it would be appreciated. I know this a difficult thing to do for some of you who have very sick dogs so don't feel you have to do this. A prayer for them would be wonderful and Yorkiedaze would certainly understand. God Bless

| Zippy - My sister's dog 15 - 10/30/92 since puppy Male At around age 7 he crushed a disc in his back, had the surgery and walks with a limp. Since then his limp has gotten progressively worse along with nerve loss, and loss of muscle mass in his back half. Also he experiences incontinence problems with poopy and pee pee. Zippy is now mostly blind and according to the vet can see shapes but no definition, has dental disease, and has some hearing loss. Zippy's medications are Metacam for the pain in his back. Proin for the incontinence - but still wears a diaper for occassional drips. Glucosamine - for his back and joints. Even with all his problems he still acts (or tries to act) like an exuberant puppy. |

| Welcome to you and Zippy. That certainly is a ripe old age and I too have heard so many people say with senior yorkies that if not most of the time they at least have moments when they are exactly like a pup. People will say to me so often "I thought she was a puppy" Again welcome!!!
