New yorkie pups Hi everyone , I am new to this posting . I have 2 -13 wk old yorkies brother and sister I thought it would be good to join and see what's happen with yorkies these days |
Welcome to you and your babies. What are their names and do you have pictures to share? |
Welcome to the club! I have 10 month old sibling pups and they are the bomb! I adore them! Rowan and Raksha are so much fun. Remember that they will play hard! It may sounds like they are fighting but they are probably playing. It can get crazy. I just let mine go at it and then they would crash when they got tired. I also have a Yorkie that will be 10 years old on Valentine's Day. Teek is my sweetie Yorkie. Glad you joined! Welcome! |
Hi and welcome to YT :)! |
Welcome and Congrats on your new kiddos! Share pics. |
Thanks everyone ! Not sure yet how to add pic from iPad , soon tho |
I am getting new puppies in a few weeks, a brother and sister... cant wait! I am new to this site also. Are you crating the two puppies together at night? Or do they sleep seperatly? Thanks! Jen |

I would definitely allow them to be crated together at night as long as they get along fine. I would have 2 crates (I have 5 crates at my house) so that you can put them in separate crates if they fight. You do need to watch and make sure they are fighting and not playing as mine can get very aggressive sounding when playing. I think they will settle in better if they have each other, although this will create a dependency with each other. Mine are bonded but they also do okay being apart as they are in separate rooms at night only because the girl puppy belongs to my almost 18 year old daughter and the boy puppy is mine and my husband's. My puppy is bonded to his sister but also is bonded to my 10 year old Yorkie some because the two of them sleep with me. If they will always be together then let them bond and sleep together as they will sleep better. If they start fighting at night then put them in separate crates next to each other, or get a crate divider and put each puppy in each side of it so they can be close but are still unable to fight. My puppies are 10 months old and they really never fight with each other at all. |
Thanks for the response JadeD! I appreciate it!! :) |
I am crating my new pups together and it's working out great . They snuggle together all the time |
Welcome to YT and congrats on your new babies, double the fun, double the mischief lol. There is nothing funnier or cuter then 2 puppies. Enjoy them. |
Welcome - I have litter mates - Luke and Lily. They were 4 mo old when I got them Now 7 1/2 mo old. At first kept them together at this age and then after having them for two weeks divided them into two areas. They are just with 5 feet in their areas and can see each other. Didn't know how much Lily was eating and they were beginning to play too rough all the time in the pen. They now sleep in the same room with us, but sleep in different crates. They are very tiny still. She is 2lb 6 oz and he is 2lb 13 oz. Yes they fight and rough house sometimes and then I find them asleep in the same bed together. She seems to becoming better pad trained then he is, but have heard that boys are always harder to potty train. Good Luck, you will just spend so much time just watching them and laughing. |
Yes , they keep you laughing , my Charlie was watching tv waiting I think for the dog he heard barking to show up lol |
Hi everyone , 14 weeks old Charlie and Chloe are doing both , Chloe will go on paper when I tell her . Charlie will walk off it and pew on floor . It's been 15 yr since I had gone thru the training thing . Help !! Lol !! |
Hi and congrats on your new babies! Yorkies can be stubborn on potty training, at least mine is anyways, he does good but the marking omg- You are going to have a blast with these little ones! If you are using iPad there is an app called Resizer so you will be able to post pics on here, I had a hard time until someone told me about it, hope that helps :) |
Thanks ,I will give it a try so I can post my little babies |

My puppies are house trained for most part. I went the route of doing both pee pad and outdoor training, which I think is more complicated than doing one or the other. I wanted them to have pad's available in case I forget to take them outside, or if the weather is just terrible. I have 4 dogs and the large dog goes strictly outside of course, so no matter the weather he goes outside. My 10 year old Yorkie was never pad trained before I got him so he goes outside. That is 2 trips outside in bad weather. I did not wan to have to puppies out as well when it is pouring down rain, bitter cold, deep snow, etc. It has worked out well as they rarely have an accident. My male puppy is better pad and outdoor trained than the girl is. He rarely ever goes anywhere except outside or on a pad. The girl will sometimes just go wherever she is standing in the house. They both go fairly well when I take them out. She likes to go out in the morning and pee and then ask to come in and poop on a pad within 5 minutes of coming in. He usually will do both outside unless he already pooped. A lot of mornings he has already pooped on the pad before I have even woke up. He gets up well during the night and does his thing and comes back to bed and curls up with me and goes back to sleep. It was frustrating for a while. I think house training 2 at once was a lot of work compared to just 1 puppy. Sometimes you don't know who did the mess in the house with 2 of them. Sometimes my older Yorkie has an accident in the house too, making it even harder to know who did what. I do not ever punish my dogs for mistakes in the house, but if I know who did it, I might look at them and say "no, we go potty on the pee pad." I never yell at them for accidents and I don't hit them for anything they do. The only time I raise my voice is if they are barking non stop and it is the only way they will hear me over them. LOL They stop and look at me and I say calmly "Thank you, that is so much better." They are so worth the work though. They play and cuddle and are great companions. I love having 2 of them and in the future when I am down to 1 dog (probably my current male puppy) and I want new dogs, I think I will get sibling puppies again. Usually we limit our house to 2 dogs, but we currently have 4 because of how circumstances turned out. The female puppy will move out with my daughter though. She adores that puppy! My 10 year old will hopefully be around for a few more years and the big dog is 6, so he has another 1-4 years probably, maybe more. I worry about when my puppy is an only child, but I will see what happens when he is in that situation, he might be fine and love the extra attention, although he is my most spoiled dog. LOL |
I had 3 Yorkies , the last to pass was my female and I have to say she loved all the pampering . She was the boss from day one with the other 2 males . I did train her to go outside but as she got older she didn't like to go out so I trained her to pee on pad by doggie door . What I am dealing with now I hope it passes sooner than later lol |
How is everyone doing with their babies ? Still getting my little ones to just go on pads . I did have one pad in crate ,but now they go outside crate when they do go on pad . They are 18 wks old now . |

Charlie and Chloe are doing both, but doing more on pad some times .There are times when I see that they have gone just on pad , then I see it on floor . I do think it's Charlie more than Chloe because Chloe has been better about going on pad . I can take and tell her to go on pad and she will . Charlie will just stand there . I know this won't last forever because I have had Yorkies before and it does take some of them awhile . I know it will Charlie he has little control right now even when he see us in morning ect he dribbles pee he get so excited |
Congrats on getting the pair! We just added a new one here too. I will second the fact that it sounds and looks like all out war when they play! But watching them chase each other back and forth through the house makes me laugh every single time! |
Welcome to YT and congrats on the new pups! I'm wishing and hoping I can get a buddy for my Scottie soon! :) |
Thank you !!! They are a lot of fun to watch , They play until they get so tired and have to nap , this goes on all day , but when it hits around 6or 7 we keep them busy so they poop out when we do for the night . I think your Scottie would love a buddy . |
Welcome to YT!!! Looking forward to seeing pics and hearing about your pups. |
Well can't wait to show them as soon as I figure out how to get them to post . I tried but not having any luck. Soon I hope ! |
Welcome to you and your new little ones, what a great joy to have them, have lots of fun. |
