Pet friendly stores? Hi guys I just wanted to know what retailers allow pets in stores? I mean other than regular pet stores like petco and petsmart.. Thanks! |
I usually take my two out to Home Depot or Lowe's. They usually allow pets ON LEASH (or some form of pet carrier) but you should ask an employee or call and ask first. I also believe there are places in the mall that allows pets as long as they're in a stroller or other form of carrier. |

There are also MANY restaurants that allow dogs on their patios. Best to phone first before you go to make sure though. Ross Michaels Nordstoms Hallmark Home Depot Pottery Barn Macy's Restoration Hardware Saks Apple Store (for those of you who have an Apple product) Hobby Lobby |
Check out the link below for 33 stores that allow dogs. (Apparently Lowes's is no longer allowing dogs.) http://barkpost.com/dog-friendly-stores/[/URL] |
2 Attachment(s) Attachment 408528We have taken Charlie everywhere without a problem. Twice the wife was asked if he was a Service Dog and she says yes and points to a Emotional Support Animal ID (with picture) hanging off the Tote. Yes, a Emotional Support Animal is not a Service Dog but the checkers just smile and wave us through. I am sure that fact that we are old farts help as well. Now, Charlie is so small and only has his head sticking out of the pocket of his travel case might be the reason. I imagine if he was much bigger it would cause a problem. We have taken him into Lowe's, Kohl's, Target, WalMart, Giant, Weis, etc. without a problem. |
SWOwner, yes, ok to go cuz he's in a carrier...that and the fact that Charlie is sooo obscenely cute...! Anyway, I take Piper to Wal-Mart*, Lowes, Home Depot, Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Ross...all I can think of for now. * please note that my Wal-Mart does not want dog in shopping cart; I carry Piper quickly through food section, then walk her in other areas of store. |
1 Attachment(s) Attachment 408535Dang Jkpal, didn't know about WalMart (no one has said anything) had a concern with a pet in the food area. The first thing we do is place the carrier in the top shelf (the shelf that holds a child). BTW - the best carts are the one's at Target - nice big kids shelf. So far, the biggest problem we have is everyone wants to come over and pet him and it seems that everyone has (or had) a Yorkie. :) |
I take my dogs to outdoor restaurants. I have disabilitys a few of them and could use my dogs as service animals and my Husband says it would not be right it would be me just taking advantage of a situation to get my dogs in somewhere maybe being selfish. |

I am very respectful of places that allow Piper; carry her if crowded, make sure she's fresh (and cute), etc. I want to do whatever I can to ensure these stores continue to allow dogs! |

There was one time where Magnus went into a barking fit inside Lowe's. I picked him up and was heading for the door when he stopped. Thought he was over it so I put him down and he wanted to picked up again. -_- Basically, he didn't want to walk anymore. So for the next 10-15 min, I was carrying him in my arms while I had Zoey in my backpack carrier on the back. You should've seen the look on ppls faces. LOL |
e]Oh, and the shopping cart thing could just be my Wal-Mart and/or the fact that Piper is not in carrier. Our Wal-Mart here can be totally obnoxious about small dogs. Not in cart, carry or walk on leash. My "dog"is cleaner and more well behaved than most of those children in the store plus probably has less germs. The big Wal-Mart up on the hill has never said anything about bringing Buddybear into their store. Apparently the store in my town was cited for health code violations because a dog was in the cart. My opinion,,,,,,,,,how many people put anything in their cart that is not wrapped in some kind of packaging. . . . Even produce or donuts etc. I've seen several "fake" harnessed dogs. But they don't get harassed. |
Ty guys for your response! Not sure why.. but somehow I didn't get email notification when I got comments. So far, I was able to take my puppies to usps.. I want to take my puppies everywhere with me but I'm scared some may stop me and tell me that dogs aren't allowed. Did you guys have to call all the places you've been to before to verify if dogs are allowed, to go in? |
Dog friendly list Thanks for the info. Their seems to be no logic sometimes for the rules. I understand where food is concerned, but some others ...no. I was turned away by the separate garden section of Walmart and was really upset by that. My dog is small and was in a carrier??? Obviously they will not allow dogs in the main building if there is food. I think the rules are becoming more restrictive with time. |
