I have just been through the exact same thing as you are experiencing right now. I got Lacy home and put her in the iris pen, and she screeched all day long at the top of her lungs. It just about drove me crazy!!! I was so stressed out. I realized that she only screeched when I was out of sight, so I walked into the room often so she could see me. But I never went over and picked her up at all, I had heard that if you do, they will know all they have to do is screech and you will come running. I started saying NO very loudly but when I did, she screeched more, so I totally ignored her. It was a VERY difficult three days. I just wanted to pick her up and console her.
I have two iris pens, and I put one right beside my bed, and that is where she slept at night, I was very lucky, she did not cry at all during the night, just all day long. After four days of screeching, she stopped. Now when she is in her pen, she is just fine. I did add 2 sides to one pen to give her more room to play around in and she is definitely happier in the larger area. |
