Heartbroken, once again. I thought tomorrow was going to be one of the happiest days of my life, but it is not to be. Two months ago I lost my beloved Chanel, which was devastating. After a month of looking for a couple of Biewer pups, (I wanted a boy and a girl), I found a breeder that lived half an hour way from me. I went over, fell in love with a little boy that I named Cosmo, went back and visited him several times, fell in love, and paid for him in full. I thought he was mine and I was so happy. Then one week before I was supposed to take him home, the breeder called to say he had elevated kidney levels so I would not be able to buy him after all, as she knew that Chanel had died of kidney failure. Then She referred me to a good friend of hers, Kathy Scotts of ScottsBiewers. Kathy sent me pics of a bunch of her pups, and I picked out a girl and boy and agreed to buy them. About a week ago, she all of a sudden decided that she did not want to sell them to me after all, and told me I should look elsewhere. The next day she decided she would sell them to me after all. A concerned member here contacted me to say that Kathy was very undependable and has backed out of MANY contracts many times, including to her. I really appreciated her kindness in telling me that, but I had already fallen in love with them and decided to go ahead and take the chance that she would not change her mind at the last minute. I had a flight booked to Seattle early TOMORROW morning and told Kathy that it was non refundable and I had to have a firm commitment that she would be there. She said she would definitely be there. This afternoon I texted her to ask what food the puppies were eating so I could buy some, and she texted back to say she was bringing me two DIFFERENT puppies than what I had agreed to buy! I phoned her and asked her what was going on. She said there had been a terrible accident and that my girl had died and my boy was fighting for his life and that THEY had been at the vet ALL WEEK long. I told her I had spoken to her just THREE days ago when I booked my flight and all was fine. I asked her why she did not even tell me about the accident when it happened, and she said because she figured she would just bring me different puppies. WHAT??? I could not believe it! I asked her how on earth both of my puppies could be in an “accident”, and one died and the other is fighting for his life, but all of her other pups are fine. She would NOT tell me what happened. I then phoned my first breeder who referred me to Kathy and told her what happened. She told me that Kathy said the “accident” happened a week ago, but she had no idea what the accident was. So, when I talked to Kathy on Monday afternoon, and I told her I was booking the flight, my girl had already died!!!!! And she didn’t even tell me and still let me book the flight! She had planned all along to switch the pups and bring me different ones. I am so disheartened to know there are breeders like her around. And I am devastated once again to lose a couple of pups that I thought were MINE! So here I am, first I lost Chanel, then I lost Cosmo, and now I have lost Lacy and Levi. It just keeps getting sadder and sadder. |
Oh my gosh that is horrible!! I am so sorry for what you are going through! Do not give up hope, little Levi and Lacy are out there somewhere, waiting for their Mama! That woman Kathy sounds like a piece of work! I honestly can't imagine what makes some people so evil! I do hope she is refunding your plane ticket! Your in my prayers, this situation of continual heart break for you just sucks (for a lack of better terms)!! |
Thanks, Cindy, I doubt very much she will be refunding my plane ticket. I should have listened to this other forum member AND listened to my heart and my gut, that told me something awful was going to happen. But I decided to have faith instead. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Kathy told me just this afternoon, that she is a great breeder and has a great reputation. I tried to explain to her that she is ruining her reputation, but she didn't seem to care. No great breeder would so what she has done. |
Yea Always follow your inner instincts, if it doesn't feel right just back out and never push no matter what your mind tells you. I learnt the hard way many times up until recently, I met a breeder for a beautiful yorkie but something didn't feel right and of course I ignored it and sure enough when I go to see the puppy the breeder turns out to be very rude as soon as I was about to pay for the puppy! The heart always knows |
WOW, Sharon - I am SO very, very sorry! I was worried (based on our PMs) that something like this was going to happen with this breeder. And it sounds like this other YT member had a similar thing happen. What an awful breeder!!! It's one thing to back out of a transaction - it's a WHOLE other level, imo, to let the other person go ahead and buy a non-refundable plane ticket when one puppy was already dead and another possibly going the same way. WHO does that??!! It's absolutely deplorable and she should be ashamed of her callous behavior. If I were you, I would most def do an official "breeder review" of her, here on YT. Make sure you put her name and kennel name in the title of the thread - and then succinctly describe what happened to you. This review matters bc when others search online for info about this breeder - that review will come up in the search results, possibly saving others from what you have been through. Like I said in one of my PMs, I recommend contacting Deb, Dee, or Greenbriar...all of whom are members here...perhaps they have puppies or at least can send you in a good direction. |
What goes around comes around! I'm so sorry this happened to you! She'll get hers. My mom always says "what goes around comes around". In other words, everything bad she does will come back to her in spades! Karma can be a bitch :D |
Don't give up!!! You'll find you baby. I agree with Wylie's Mom--go through someone here on YF. I can practically hear and feel your longing for your own baby when you comment on posts. You totally deserve puppy happiness and you'll have it---stay strong; we're here for you! |
Thank you all so much for your caring. Ann, I did put the breeders name and kennel name in my message. I got up this morning with a very heavy heart. I had a dream, that I was driving from Arizona to Kelowna with my friend Marie. We decided to stop at a restaurant for lunch. Just after we were seated at a table, I felt a paw on my leg, I looked down, and there was Chanel. I picked her up and put her on my shoulder, and she cuddled right in to my neck, and I asked Marie how on earth Chanel could have gotten into the restaurant. When I looked up at Marie, she had a pup that she was cuddling, I asked her whose puppy that was, and she said it was a pup from the first breeder I was supposed to get Cosmo from. I asked her where the pup was on the drive, and she said in a crate in the back of the car because the breeder wanted me to be surprised later. I went over to Marie, gave her Chanel, and I took the new pup and put her on my shoulder and she cuddled into my neck just like Chanel always did, and my heart just melted. I was SOOOO ecstatic! I said to Marie that I finally had my two pups! Then I woke up and reality hit me and I was so depressed. |
When I told my friend Karen about my dream, she said that Chanel came into my dream from heaven to comfort me, which of course made me start bawling. I miss Chanel so very much, every minute of every day. |
It'll be ok, really it will...I am so sorry you're going through this, but your little is out there and you'll find one another and the joy you'll have will make all this sadness disappear. I know you'll find your new little angel soon...Maybe a little smile below...?? God sent angels down to earth in the form of dogs with notes saying don’t judge, just love. They ate the notes but they keep trying to deliver the message. |
Aw, Jkpal, that is so cute, and it did make me smile. Thank you. :-) |
I'm sorry that you are going through this very hurtful situation. It's awful that there are people who can bring such sadness to a person. But they are there!! Just knowing that your heart was set on these puppies and this person was so selfish and heartless. It's very unethical! I hope there will soon be two precious puppies for you and healing come from all this chaos! |
Thank you SassyYorkies! :-) |
I sent you a name and phone number of a hobby breeder in Northern California. Please call her now. Tell her I gave you her information. She knows I gave you her information. Really call her now. |
Oh no...I am so sorry. Don't give up...your new loves await you, and you will find them. Hugs. |
Angelic Biewers and Angelic Yorkies This gal lives in Arizona and has nice pups . I got to know her as I was helping her at the big all breed show which is in January . She was showing at the time and I was hanging around the yorkie ring . She told me about her self and her breeding program . Maybe you could research her and see if she has some nice pups for your consideration. Corinne Betowski is her name, |
Thank you so much Katy, I will check her out, I really appreciate your help! |
You are very welcome ! |
Thank you all so very much for your help, I really appreciate it!!! I have found a beautiful little girl Biewer. And I have decided to get the boy from my breeder back home in B.C. when I return in the spring. That way I can train Lacy really well now, and when I get the boy, Levi, little Lacy will be a shining example to her new brother. :-) I don't want to talk about my pup too much yet, as the last two deals fell through. As soon as I have the pup in my arms, I will post pics!!! I hope so much, that it will be "third time lucky!" |

Oh , that is wonderful news . I will say a special prayer that all goes well . I can't wait to see pics of your special bundle of joy . |
Thank you Wanda, I want to get really excited, but because of what has happened in the past, I am afraid to. I am pretty sure this one will work out though. Hopefully, this is the one that was "meant to be!" |

I understand completely . You have had way too much disappointment . This one has to work out .. |
Things will work out the way they're supposed to work out and it will all be soooo right. I know, because that's how Piper came into my life...one moment I was devastated and lonely and then God gave me Piper. She is exactly the perfect, right little gal for me. Have faith and trust in yourself! |
So happy for you! I understand not wanting to get excited with all you have been through. Can't wait to see pics of Lacy! |
I think third time will be a charm for you. Can't wait to hear about your new babies. It's always helpful to ask a breeder who she will buy from. I too have had several awful experiences with Kathy. If you pm or email me I will be happy to share with you. |
Wow! I don't really know you as I'm new here, but just came across your thread when looking around these forums and, just WOW! How can someone be so heartless? Especially when they're in the dog breeding business, you'd thing that after some time they would develop some kind of affection towards dogs and people they sell them to, and not just do it for the money involved, but just wow! I hope this breeder runs out of business real soon (sorry if I'm sounding harsh here for some of you, but she deserves just that if not more) because she shouldn't be in the dog breeding business, full-stop. Just not up to the responsibility. Again, terribly sorry for everything you've gone through, thoughts and prayers your way! |

Thanks, Mike, appreciate that. :-) |
Sharon, hope your heart is lifted with the news of having your new babies. |
Sharon, I am very sorry that you have gone through what you describe as a horrible ordeal while trying to find a new dog for your family. I see these posts on YT describing bad breeders or a sale that has gone wrong or a buyer disappointed with the appearance or health of the dog they just purchased. I always wonder what the other side of the story is and what the accused person would say in response. This situation is one where I do know Kathy Scott. I have known her for more than five years. I hope that Kathy will find the time to post her side of the story. Please know I have not talked to Kathy personally about this situation so I don't know what she will say. What I feel I must say is that Kathy is like all of us, she is not perfect. She is one of the original Biewer breeders starting in 2005. Kathy has sold many dogs to many of my friends and they all seem very happy with the quality as most were sold as show quality. I have also heard a few stories where things did not work out but things eventually worked out. But I have also heard at least one complaint on all the breeders I know. I know Kathy to be reasonable and I would guess she would be willing to speak to you. I only know you from this one thread and you also seem reasonable. I don't believe that I would want someone to post a situation like this on a public forum about me without getting both sides of the story. I believe when someone posts a story about the dire health of a dog they just purchased, they should post the copies of the vet records and the contact information for their vet. Public forums have turned into a place to quickly destroy someone and you do not seem like someone that intended to do that. If Kathy has sold 100 dogs (and I have no idea how many she has sold) I am sure there are more than 90 that would post a nice reference. We never hear from the really happy people. We just hear when someone feels they have been done wrong. I hope that Kathy and her buyers find time to post something to balance the information. Or maybe Kathy will post that she did not handle this situation as she should have. Regardless, Kathy should be able to speak for herself. I hope you are able to find the dogs to make you happy. I have lost dogs and know that it is a tough time to get through. I wish you well and hope that in time you and Kathy can talk again and come to some understanding that maybe it was just a misunderstanding or miscommunication. |
