I always squeeze my little pup's glands when I bath him. I'm sure that one time, I did express some fluid - but since water and soap are all over him, I'm often not sure. And - during the bath, he's so busy wiggling and squirming and getting washed that I'm not sure he realizes I'm even doing it. I'll just have to wait and see if he ends up having problems - hopefully, what I'm doing is working and he'll have no problems. Carol Jean |

in my own experience - it isn't anything you need to worry about unless you see scooting or your yorkie itching or scratching back there... |
A side story- We had never had this done on our Dalmation- well she started the booty scoot and we did not know what to do...took her to the vet and he did it- I was in the room at the time- OMG it was so gross and the smell so bad I had to go hurl....I said never again- our groomer does it when needed- but I am never around- that was one of those experiences that once in a lifetime was enough! |
LMAO !!!!!!!!!! Same thing with one of my husbands cockers - We took her to the vet and I offered to stay in the room with her - when they started and I got a wiff.... she was ON HER OWN in there - I was out the door so fast it had NO chance to hit me in the butt ! |
One of Heidi's glands (or sacs?) ruptured a while back, so the vet showed us how to do it. We do it every once in a while. The rupturing was nasty  |
My husband empties Miko's anal glands when needed while he's getting a bath, so that whatever smell there might be goes away! hehe |
ewwwwwww. Vet job. |
