I had those feeling for 13 months before I got my baby. I was so torn on when, how, the right breeder, I'm I ready, do I really want the commitment again, can I love another, & it goes on & on. So happy you are asking questions. That's the only way you can sort things out in your brain, in your heart and your sole. The decision to purchase a Yorkie, in my opinion, is very serious. They look to us for all their needs. Believe me, I have put a lot of my needs on hold for my precious baby. Best to you. 😊 |
Yes, I agree it is serious decision to buy a Yorkie, but I have so much time and love to give him, I know I can give him a wonderful life, just like I did for Chanel. So glad you finally got another one, your Yorkie is adorable! |
I hope you will stick around here for that month and make friends during that time of others who adore Yorkies. Maybe it will help the time pass faster for you. Then if you have any additional questions after you get him home you will already have a few friends on here. I am sorry for the comment made about you not coming back. I do know that recently we have had a ton of people come on here and ask a question and then never come back and tell us how things went and it can get frustrating. I hope you will forgive us and stick around and get to know us better and then you will see what we mean when someone makes one post, a bunch of us jump in to offer advice and then we never hear what happens to that pup and we are left wondering. Welcome! I can't wait to see more pics of your puppy! I am waiting to go get my mom's new puppy for her. It is a full sibling to my two puppies that are 7 month old siblings. I get to meet him at the end of this month for her and then another 6 weeks and I get to bring him home to her! I am so excited. |
Thanks, Jade, I will be sticking around, I know there are a lot of wonderful members on this forum. I appreciate your apology on the other members behalf, but just because many people come and post a message and don't return, is no excuse to post a message as unkind as what was posted to me, maybe THAT is the reason many people don't come back. I almost didn't because of that, which would have been sad. I was so insulted that someone who doesn't even know me, would say that I would probably do what was best for me and not for my puppy. I would never dream of saying something so unkind to someone. There is not a person in this world who treats their dogs better than me. My Yorkie is the most important thing in my life and I will do everything in my power to give him a wonderful life. He will be my baby - very loved and very spoiled. |

I do look forward to seeing more pics. There is a thread with pics of my puppies on it in the YT Nursery thread if you want to see some. The 9 year old is pure Yorkie, the puppies are a mix, but they are certainly adorable! |
Oh my goodness, Jade, you are so lucky to have so many Yorkies! You have 3 babies? And how nice of you to take in a 9 year old, so glad that worked out. The YT Nursery? I do not see that anywhere but I will poke around and see if I can find it, it takes awhile to figure out where everything is on this forum, it is a little confusing. I will go and try to find your pics. :-) |
If you go to the main page, by clicking on the Yorkietalk.com forums above the posts. Once there you will see a lot of the areas you can go to, like this is the General Yorkshire Terrier Discussion. Go down to the YT Baby Nursery, or something like that. My thread is just a few down and it should say Raksha and Rowan. You can see pics and stuff I have posted since they were born. Teek also has his own thread but that one is under a different category. It is uner the one below the General Discussion called My Yorkie Pictures and it is back, it is currently on page 9. You can also go to my profile and see some pics that I have up as well. You will learn your way around soon. It took me a little bit when I joined. I hope you enjoy! |

You would not dream of being unkind yet you keep calling her out?? Seriously, I hope you learn that the written word on an online forum should not be so upsetting. There was nothing "personal" said about you..no one questioned your pet ownership skills...just totally out in left field right now. As for why people don't come back .... it certainly isn't something as innocent as that. We are talking about people who come here and don't like hearing the truth....their pup has been vomiting for an entire weekend and they want us to fix it...Heaven forbid we suggest a vet. Then, they don't return and we are left to wonder if the pup died. It is a common occurence and is not the fault of anyone on this forum! Or someone who insists they will buy an 8 week old puppy no matter what we say because we are all fools and she just disappears. We never know if these stories are real or some fool making up stuff just to push buttons. It goes on and on and on....and yes, it IS and excuse. She said she was sorry. IMO it is time to move on and stop defending yourself...no clue why you feel that need. No one here thought one way or the other about you...I am quite sure of that. You got great advice and again I want to emphasize that Cherie actually gave you a good idea. |
LadyJane, I am just as entitled to have my opinion as you are to have yours. If you keep replying, I will also. Cherie said that I would probably do what was best for me, and not for my dog, which is insulting. |

If someone said to YOU that you would do what was best for YOU and not for your dogs, I can guarantee you that you would be upset and insulted also! It is sad that there are people like you on this forum. |
Okay, everyone, you don't have to be so upset at the breeder any more. :-) I talked to her today and told her I did not want to pick up the puppy until 3 months, and I did not want the rabies shot before three months either. I called my vet and he said it would be fine to give the rabies shot at three months. It was all a misunderstanding, I thought the breeder said she was going to give the rabies at 2 months, but she said that she said three months, so I misunderstood. So happy about that. She also said she would keep the puppy longer, but they have already been weaned and are eating solid food, and the mother will be going in to be spayed very shortly and will be going to a new home. So, even if the mother won’t be there, I assume I should still leave the puppy there? Any kind advice would be appreciated. |

......and now it is sad that *I* am here on this forum.... .... I am actually trying to help you because that was mild, but you want to feed on it, so have at it. Maybe if you keep blowing your own horn you will feel better, but I have a feeling that won't happen. Not sure what you will do when someone REALLY says something to upset you which always happens online .. it is almost a given. I don't believe what people say about me ... it's actually good to have that belief....much less stressful. I was not always that way, but I found I get less stomach upsets and headaches by not believing the negative things said about me. |
We had a darling little girl when we were first married over 45 years ago. Not knowing the distemper and parvo were necessary to keep her healthy and the fact I had no clue about puppies, Peanut got parvo. I was heart broken. The vet diagnosed her in under two minutes and hurried her out of the room. I sat at the county animal services and several of us encouraged a young couple to get the shots for their dog. I explained how horrific it was for our little girl, another woman said she had spent hundreds to get her dog well. Puppy shots spaced as they should be is not just a whim but long term education that is proved over again. |
Pup I would leave the pup with the breeder and his momma longer, have the breeder do all necessary shots and then the rabies at a twelve weeks, and then take him with you. Hope the breeder will not spay the momma until after your pup has left. The more time the pup is with its momma the better he will be. :) Good Luck! |
