| I need to talk and share My baby Spice is 16 mo old and I have been so lucky with her health considering she came from a questionable breeder. I have a little rescue JR terrier I have had for about 8 yrs now and she has always been my sickly one. We figure she is 9 maybe 10 now and is blind from diabetes but still a love bug. I rec'd spice as a gift last Feb and she was 5 mo old. The two dont fight but they are very jealous ,I should say my Sugar is jealous of Spice. After all she was the only one for 8 yrs and along came this little bitty thing that she cant see and loves to scare her! LOL Anyway back to my problem. Spice jumps off the couch and the bed , even tho they are low i didnt want her jumping so I tried stairs and a ramp, she would go around them to jump up!!! She has sooooo much personality and she knows how to get me to let her do anything! Little brat LOLOLOL Well yes it happened, when she jumped down from the bed to go pee-pee in the night she must have jumped wrong . I heard a pitiful little yelp and turned on the light and picked her up, she seemed fine. When we got up a few hours later she was holding her leg up. I immediately just knew it was bad news. Took her to her vet right away. Sure enough her knee cap wouldnt stay in so now I am looking at a 2,000 operation for the luxating patella. My vet said t could wait a few months but the longer I waited the worse it would get. And of course I dont want Spicey to be in pain. I knew I should have taken out insurance when I read about all that can happen with a little Yorkie but I only have my SS check and it barely covers my girls and I needs. Not sure what I am going to do but I will somehow figure it out as my girl will be taken care of!!! Believe it or not I feel better just talking to you all. Sometimes that is all it takes, just to share with those who care and understand ,to make a person feel much better. Thank you so much for listening♥♥ |

| So sorry to hear this, isn't there something called care credit, they pay the bill and you make monthly installments to pay back. I sure hope someone comes along and gives the correct name of this financing group. Will your vet work out a payment plan with you? (((hugs))))

| So very sorry to hear about Spice, how sad. If I were you, I would put a blanket all the way around the couch on the floor, so if she were to jump off again, at least she would land on the blanket and not hurt herself as badly. Matese made a good suggestion, maybe ask your vet for a payment plan, it would be awful to make her wait for surgery when she is in pain. Good luck to you.

| Is it normal for them to seem to be ok one day and hold the leg up the next? That is what she is doing. I have pillows on the floor in front of the couch and once she gets in bed now she dont jump out, I also put pillows on the floor on the side she can jump down from at night just in case , she will cuddle with me and stay until we get up then bee lines for her pee pad! LOL My vet would take payments but because we live in a small rural community I will have to take her 80 miles away to the clinic that does surgeries for my vet. I will figure out something as she has become so very important in my heart and life and I wont let her be in pain. Thank you all for caring and for your suggestions♥ |
