I don't understand either. People just like to put labels on everything and anything. I find the most ironic when overweight people say my dogs are too big. :rolleyes: Of all people, they should know that people and dogs come in all shapes and sizes.

I have the opposite issue! My crossbreed (chorkie) is 5 lbs- a normal size for a purebred of either breed that went into her. People go, "Ohhh, THAT's why she is so small". Like...do you think yorkies are usually 20 pounds or what?

Don't let it bug you. People can be super ignorant.

Most people cannot tell he has a back up hook actually to her (it is discrete) to back up in case she drops the leash.

I try to view these as teaching opportunities (when I have the patience), rather than letting the questions bother me. But ya know, I have a special needs kiddo, so not much I hear surprises me anymore and even less upsets me. Still, I figure less ignorance in the world is better!

i know how difficult it is sometimes when people with inject their inexperience or biased opinions. I see it quite a bit when questions are posed in forums about Chorkies. I'm new here and the little bit I've seen so far, that isn't the case here. It may be though that I just haven't been around long enough to see it, but I'm hoping that isn't the case. I've heard many refer to Chorkies as mutts, that pregnant Chorkies should be rushed to the vet to abort the litter, that there are no reputable Chorkie breeders and anyone thinking of getting one is berated and discouraged. So my point it, people are going to give their unsolicited advice regardless of their knowledge or lack of knowledge. Just toss those comments in the circular file where they belong.

People don't know what they are talking about and yorkies seem to bring out the stupidity in many of them. I've heard talk of midi and giant yorkies (???), been chewed out because I put their hair in a topknot (they need the hair to protect their delicate eyes) and all with an air of suprime authority. I'm sure nobody says a word about maltese, dobermans and german shepherds (correct me if I'm wrong on that). We know what we are looking at when we see a yorkie but I find it best to keep my mouth shut.

Unless someone makes a comment that I know is meant to be "mean" spirited, I don't let it bother me. Some people simply doesn't know or understand.

I saw a slightly big yorkie that didn't have the "traditional" look. I asked the owner if he was a mix. Having a non traditional looking teapot myself, I never minded when people asked or commented on whether Magnus was a yorkie or not. So I asked if he was a mix and she was SO offended.

I didn't mean to upset her but it obviously did. :( After that incident I\'m more careful of what I say. In fact, I generally just stick with words like "cute, adorable, loving, sweetheart, etc" LOL
