I too put my recommendation with chewy.com :D Had great experiences so far and the price is pretty good. If you get autoship it'll discount the item/food a little bit more. |
I too, use Chewy.com. Prices are really low and if I don't have the full $49, I usually add a toy or snack for Annie to make up the difference. |
Well I'll just go ahead and praise Chewy.com along with everyone else:D Never a bad experience and I order Canadae dog food and treats from them. So very glad to see you are on the mend and back together with Tibbe:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: |
Another good thing about Chewy.com....if for some reason you aren't satisfied with your order they refund and tell you to donate your product to a rescue or animal shelter. I ordered Jada and Bogie the cutest slow feed bowls, but the design didn't work for us. The grooves were narrow and deep and they couldn't get to the food. I contacted Chewy and they refunded the purchase price the next day. I donated the bowls which were around 30.00 total to a local rescue. |
Had to take Tibbe to the vet today - woke up with a bloodshot right upper eyeball and he seemed to be favoring his left forepaw! Couldn't believe it! This dog goes to bed well and wakes up with two odd problems he's never had before. But as his old ramp had become unsteady on one side so until I can get his new one assembled, I moved his doggie steps back to the bed. They are awfully short for the bed and the final jump up/down is fairly big. But no explanation at all for the blood-shot right eye and I don't wait when eyes are involved. Just when I think we're okay, up jumps another worry or two with Tibbe! He sure seems frail, poor baby. So, once he woke with 2 problems, we had to get to the vet. I left him there and came home to rest until the vet can see him. Found out the PetSmart stopped carrying Hill's I/D GI - not selling well enough and bags were going out of date on the shelves!!! But their vet office manager called Hill's and ordered a 27 or 28 lb. sack for me to be delivered there and she said she or one of the vet techs will deliver it when it comes in! So for the time being, Tibbe will have the GI portion of his food and we have plenty of the hepatic. But next order, it's Chewy.com for us! |
Another vote for chewy.com. I started ordering from them a few months ago because we don't have a good selection of quality dog food where I live. I'll never buy dog food anywhere else again. I have 6 dogs so I buy big bags of food and I love that it comes right to my door and I don't have to carry around big bags of food. Every time I've ordered from them, I've received the order within 2 days with free shipping....can't beat that! |

Vet said she couldn't palpate any unusual findings or reproduce any pain in his left forefoot, leg or joints along the limb and thinks the unusual jumping on and off the bed strain is behind it. Said she examined the pads, between the toes, etc., under the magnifier to see if there were a splinter or cut or anything - saw nothing. Hates to start him on NSAID's with his compromised liver unless the problem persists and I agree. If he has to take them, we'll have to do pre-medication blood testing to be sure his liver is up to it. He doesn't limp but when he's standing or sitting, he just suddenly holds his left foot up, which he's never done before yesterday morning. He's on rest, no jumping or playing and I lift him most times he wants up or down from the couch. We spent last night camping in the den as it's easier for to life him onto the couch then the bed and this morning I'm the one who is paying the price! Couch sleeping is not recommended except for the very young! The vet started him on an antibiotic, steroid combination eye drop twice daily for the eye redness - both eyes were bloodshot - it's just the right is worse - and wonders if it started from the dust unearthed from the deep cleaning the housecleaners were doing Wednesday(we were confined to the back of the house with doors closed except for when he had to go potty while they were here). Said it could have been some cleaning fumes he walked into or a combination of dust, cleaner fumes when we came through to go outside. I hadn't had this house deep-cleaned for over two years and believe me, it was long overdue. But poor Tibbe paid the price! |
We are going to try Canidae Life Stages Chicken Meal & Rice Formula Dry Dog Food, 30-lb. It would be 34.99 + shipping at Chewy.com but it is 29.74 (free shipping) on a subscribe and save through Amazon. I have always had GREAT service from Amazon, but we are also prime through them. I do not know if that matters for customer service or not. |
Jeanie, I hope you and Tibbe have had a better day and that you both are resting up before the roofers come. Please take care of yourself and be well. Please tell Tibbe the same thing from Katie and me |
Question on the Hill's Prescription i/d Gastrointestinal Health change in formula Quote:
The vet's office delivered the Hill's i/d food I mentioned above last night - that food that they ordered directly for me from either Hill's or their Hill's supplier and it's not the old i/d Gastrointestinal Health kibble package. Rather it's a different package, with a Border collie's picture on it and the package labelling reads "Hill's Prescription Diet Digestive Care i/d Chicken Flavor", the package looking just this one Chewy.com lists on this page: Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care Chicken Flavor Dry Dog Food, 27.5-lb bag (It's the only dry kibble choice I could find when I type in Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Gastrointestinal Health in the Chewy search bar) The vet tech that delivered it late last evening read out the main ingredients and they seemed to be listed in a different order on the two bags, though the first 10 ingredients were the same, just some of them listed in a different order and that whole grain sorghum and one or two other ingredients have been added to the new version of the food, while one or two former ingredients are missing. She was having problems reading the ingredients from the old bag as it was worn, wrinkled and much smaller print than the new bag. She swears it's the same food, that Hill's just changed the packaging to look less medicinal and look more regular dog food, which is a different story the guy told me about the i/d GI Health not selling well and going stale on their shelves! I guess she's never had a dog with severe IBS where the slightest change in food can make them pretty sick. I found an ad for an old bag ad of Hill's i/d GI on Google and compared it with the Chewy i/d Digestive Care and the lesser ingredients are slightly different, with some changes. I'm really scared to try Tibbe on the new version, even a few kibbles as that's all it takes sometimes to send him into a new bout of IBS! Hill's Customer Service is closed this weekend so I can't call them and ask if they are essentially the same prescription food and if the changes could affect a dog with IBS? Has anyone out there who used i/d Gastrointestinal Health kibble made the change to i/d Digestive Care Chicken Flavor with no problems? |
