| Hey, Sorry for the late reply. The vet's visit went well, thanks! The vet said Lillie is fine. She said something about a left patella/knee bone having the tendency to "pop out" sorry I dont remember the medical term for this. She said it wasnt uncommon for yorkies. (Should I be worried about this?) She said the reason Lillie doesn't eat is because she's shy/scared/still acclimatizing to her new home. She said I might need to slowly incorporate other things in her diet (like mix the dry food I got from the breeder with wet food- any recommendations?) She did eat treat the vet had, but the vet said she can't live off these. She also said that Lillie stunk. I didn't notice this when I picked her up. Perhaps I was too excited. But I wonder why the breeder didn't keep her clean and groomed (is this a sign of a bad breeder?). Anyways, I'm taking her to the groomer's first think in the morning. I'll be sure to post a before and after picture. That's mostly it for now. Could anyone please refer me to where I can get information on how to bathe the puppy? I think I'll be doing this at least once a week to prevent smells. With regards to potty training, all I have done is follow the advice I've been given and there haven't really been any accidents. (She did go in her crate, but I wasn't home at the time, so I guess that couldn't have been helped, as I took her for a walk before I went out). All in all I'm starting to believe I can do this. Thanks every one!!!!! |

Thank you! Vets visit went well. Knowing what I know now, I think it's a bit suspect that the puppy was neither potty nor crate trained.. The breeder gave me a blanket.. but lillie messed it up (she threw up, peed and pooped on it) so I'm going to have to throw it out. I can't keep it as it cos it reeks and if I wash it it defeats the purpose. (i think). Lillie has gone in her crate a couple of times, but maybe its cos its new to her? I hope we get the hang of it soon (still haven't left her in her crate all night).

Thank you! I can't wait for it to completely pass (i do feel better now thanks). I'm not a mom yet, and this is my first pet as an adult, so it was hard, but we're figuring it out. I sometimes wish I had gotten a younger pup, I had to decide between the older pup or a 12 week old pup from a breeder I was not too sure about (starting to think I should have gone with that but oh well). I think its great you have two puppies! Sometimes I think Lillie might have a better time adjusting if there was another dog around, she seemed to get along well with the other dogs at the breeder's.I can't wait until Lillie is completely trained (both potty and crate) and I can't wait until she understand what 'go potty' means. Right now I just walk her around until she goes and then I praise and reward her, I hope she understands what this means. lol

Thanks you! Your story is so encouraging! I'm somewhat OCD as well and I'm trying my best to keep Lillie off the carpet and other soft areas (except for her beds) for now. I hope I can do this right. I can't wait until she's fully trained and I can let her be free to be herself without worry that she'll mess the house up!

| @winni you could try to make some chicken broth, just boiling the chicken with some salt without water, and mix her food with it to dampen it. i had to do that when i first got my puppy, and it was advised by the breeder too. and it made him eat his food ![]() from what i've heard, puppies get stressed easily, like moving to new places, and they might not try to eat. as for bath tips... i'm not sure if i have any tips for you since i'm still getting used to it myself.. lol and if she's pottying in the crate, the crate may be too big for her, or that she just can't hold long enough. |

| If you make chicken broth DO NOT ADD SALT, I buy BONELESS CHICKEN CUTLETS, boil in water DO NOT ADD SALT, you can cut up some carrots to give broth more flavor boil until cooked, let it cool then skim off any fat, you can shred some chicken and mix it with her food, the broth you can add a couple tablespoons to her water, she will drink water if broth is added, not to much broth, she will drink all the water and can throw up from over drinking. When you bring a new puppy home most puppies do get stressed, remember, they have been taken away from their human momma, taken away from their own momma and litter mates, they leave all that they have come to know as home, they go to you, a stranger, come to a new home, new smells, no more momma, no more litter mates, that is very stressful on these pups. Happy to hear you got a good health report. The knee popping out, I am not knowledgeable on that, there are several members that are due to their pups needing surgery, hopefully they will come on board and offer their advise, suggestions and experience. As each day goes by and Lillie is with you, you will become more relaxed, things will not feel so over whelming for you. As for bathing Lillie, there must be a video on you-tube that shows how do bathe the puppy, seeing is so much easier then someone writing instructions. Unscented baby wipes are good for cleaning her girlie parts, to many baths can dry their skin. I use a special shampoo and conditioner you can only get at a vet. Hopefully members can suggest a good quality shampoo and conditions that is good for puppy's. Take a deep breath, things will all fall into place. Soon you will be able to laugh at yourself for all these worries. (((hugs))) you are going to be just fine.

| Wow, I am really impressed with the way you guys have all gotten together to help this little lady with her first time pet fears and problems. You have encouraged her and been there for her and gave her some strength when she was feeling so weak and discouraged and afraid she had made a dreadful mistake. You gave her some really good tips and kind encouraging words and if it doesn't sound too stupid I am really proud of all of you guys. |

| I forgot to add Winnie that I think you are coming along beautifully and doing a great job with all the help and encouragement you have been receiving.. I am so glad that you found this site as you were feeling so down and low but now you are encouraged and know you can do this and know you have a good place to go whenever you have something you need to talk about and will get the help you seek. I love the name of Lillie she has and I am glad you took her home. Sounds to me like she will have a much better home with you than she had with the breeder from what you said. Best wishes and welcome to Yorkie Talk. |
