8 Yorkies Owner Surrendered 1 Attachment(s) An owner that a lot of you knew/know surrendered her 8 yorkies. Oklahoma Yorkie Rescue has taken 4 of them. Here is their post from facebook. Their facebook is a page so even if you do not have a facebook, you should be able to view it. At this time since they are still being vetted, we do not know the specifics to their medical conditions. ************ One week ago today, we were contacted by a Vet office in Tulsa that had 3 yorkies that had been owner surrendered. She found us because the biewer Yorkie's chip was registered to us. Jordy (formerly Talan) was returned to us. 5 more Yorkies were later in the week surrendered by the same owner. 3 of them have been turned over to us. The other 4 owner surrenders are being handled by the Vet's office. We have Jordy, Chelsea, Keagan and Dolly. Everyone needs a lot of vetting and in time, a good grooming. All are very lovable and settling in their foster homes. Be sure to keep an eye on our page to follow their story. Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/oklahoma.re...type=1&theater If you feel it in your heart to donate to the vetting for the 4 that they have, please click the link below. Every bit helps so if you can give $5, trust me, it adds up quickly. Donation link: Donate |
Many of us have been very concerned for these poor kiddos and they are in my thoughts, as is their owner who is a member here. Hoping for the best for all involved. I donated...thanks for posting this. |
What in the world is happening???????? |
Thanks for posting and glad the pups are in good hands. Will donate. |
Had to donate at first sight of those poor puppies. We don't always agree on everything but one thing I'm confident about is that WE ALL love these precious souls. Lets show YTers support! |
I did not know the member but that does not matter. I could not turn my back on those dogs. I sent a small donation. Hopefully them in end up in a happy forever home. |
thank you for allowing the post and to all that have donated. As OKYR posts more on these pups, I will post here in this thread so for those they do not like facebook do not have to check either. I do know that while they look rough and their health may not be the best, their spirits are high. This is very positive that their spirit is not broken! Thanks again to all :animal-pa |

Foster mom update I'm fostering the 2 boys. Oh what little sweethearts they are! They will both be at the vet this week, probably tomorrow. Talan aka Jordy seems pretty healthy & was vetted prior to him coming back to us. He just needs to grow his hair back. Keagen I think will most likely need LP surgery in both legs. He has a funny walk & according to old vet records, him seeing a surgeon was suggested. He is so, so sweet. A little skittish of people but coming around. They are both such quiet little boys. A pleasure to foster them both. :) :heart to |

It is wonderful to know that there exists an enormous group of caring like minded people that adore and care for these pups and will see to it they are taken from an unfortunate situation and rehabilitated. I hope this poor broken soul is able to get the help SHE needs, as well....apparently she was very active in the Yorkie community....something happened and the wheels came off her wagon.....I pray SHE is getting the help she needs. |
1 Attachment(s) Update from OKYR facebook>> >>>Jasper (on right) is available for adoption<<<< **Dolly is not available for adoption** Dolly weighs 2 1/2 . Her appetite is almost non-existent. FosterMom has to hand feed her or she won't eat. Dolly has been offered a variety of foods, including chicken, turkey, hard boiled egg, Cheerios, vienna sausage, sweet potato, yogurt, cottage cheese, canned dog food. FreshPet, and 2 dry foods of very small kibble. The most she has eaten at one feeding was 3 tablespoons. As a result, FosterMom is hand feeding her every 2-3 hours. She's reliably house trained and uses dog door. She likes sunning on the patio, but also uses dog steps to get on/off couch for naps. She cuddles close at night in bed with FosterMom but does not want to be held. Our vet wants her to gain some much needed weight before vaccinations or blood work. She has severe luxating patella, no teeth, bone loss in her lower jaw and a soft spot on a her head like a puppy. |
Oh my the pictures of Dolly break my heart Heading off to donate |
I will pray for them all...previous owner and pups. Sometimes life can take unexpected turns. I'm glad the pups are being cared for and as Yorkiemom1 said, I hope that she is getting help as well. |
Oh man, what happened? Did something happen to the owner that is why she surrendered them? I hope they all get the vetting and homes they need. |

Please, while I realize many of you are concerned for the pups, as am I, ....pray for the owner who surrendered these pups. She loved her pups just like we all do...... What happened to her could happen to any one of us. You just never know what can happen to you in life ... no one wants to think things could happen like this, but they can and they do. This is not the first case I have seen like this and sadly probably will not be the last. |

This person absolutely loved her dogs and was a real animal advocate too. To me, this shows us that it could really happen to any one of us, under certain circumstances. I just hope she can heal from this and come back from this place in her life. I care a lot about both her, and these precious pups . |
This story is so sad to hear im glad the puppies are save and i hope the person that gave them up get the help she needs and may god bless her the puppies and the person that is caring for the yorkies right now i just got mines and i can't see my life without my little cody. |

While I am devastated about the pups that have been adversely affected by this life event for this poor soul, what about this woman???? Does anyone know if she has family or someone helping HER??? She has obviously been caught up in the jagged jaws of depression and God, I pray SHE has some serious, QUALIFIED help from concerned family.....does anyone know what has happened to HER?? Is she getting the help she desperately needs to even survive this event??? |

Very sad case. I can't wrap my head around how someone goes to work etc yet ignores the innocent creatures that depend wholly on her. I also don't think it's a good idea to be stuffing Vienna sausages and junk at Dolly without her having labs and possibly an ultrasound done to find out what the cause of her inappetence is. I hope that labs can be done soon and the dog put on a diet that is appropriate and possibly meds to stimulate her appetite (cerenia, mirtnazapine). I will pray for all involved. |
I don't know who the person in question is, but I feel like many are tip-toeing around. If it's true she is still able to go to work, why was she not able to care for the dogs? I'm not sure I could care for 8 dogs myself, but if I were at my limit I wouldn't take in more. And Vienna sausages? What? |

As for numbers, each person has his/her own number that can be taken care of. I don't believe that this person consciously knew she had too many and kept taking more in....I believe she just became overwhelmed and the end result was as it is. Not to justify anything, I have seen surrenders in much worse shape than these pups. I see remarks about LP and odd walking....that could be said about a couple of mine but the surgeon I use advises against LP surgery in an adult pup and I have taken them in with varying degrees of LP for evaluation by him. Now, IF they have a torn cruciate ligament, then that is a different story. I see no good that could come of naming this individual. The important thing is that the pups are going to be ok. Hopefully, so will she. As for the vienna sausages, apparently that is what a foster home is giving one of the tiny ones without teeth. I am with 107barney in thinking something more needs to be done...I don't know what vetting has been done, but that is not something I have ever fed a pup in my home. I believe there is a post in this thread about this poor pup. |

I have been thinking the same thing throughout this. None of us knows what our future holds, whether it be physical health, mental health, or financial health. What would happen to our babies if something happened to us? I know this member loved her pups just like we love our pups and my heart goes out to her. I can't even imagine the pain she is going through losing her babies. I am praying for her. I am so happy that those babies are being cared for by such loving souls. God Bless everyone involved in rescue and fostering. What would we do without you? |

I agree the pups look dirty to me but not all that sick. They look fat. All but the little one who desperately needs a vet who wants to do something like Rx meds and do testing. Any dog can have blood drawn from the jugular and if this vet doesn't want to take blood, the dog needs a vet who isn't afraid to handle her. |

I like the idea, though, of something in the wallet - thanks for that :)! |

I also feel terrible for that little one and agree that a vet is in order based upon the description given. I have had pups from 3 lbs up to 15 lbs and they were all treated the same. There is no reason not to be able to draw blood. I see these comments a lot about how vets are afraid to operate and wonder what kind of vets these people are talking about. Someone posted on a FB page the other day that she had to pay more for surgery on a pup because she was 2.5 lbs...I was stunned. If anything, it should have been less expensive! |
