you know, there should be a way to report people like the girl who sold her to the animal welfare with a red flag on their name so they aren't allowed to adopt or license any animals based on prior treatment of animals. sounds to me like she might have come from a puppy mill and they got a few litters from her and had no more use for her. I could be wrong, but seems to me after (assuming they even did) paying the purchase price for a yorkie, high or low end, one would at least attempt to take care of the creature instead of neglecting it. She didn't seem to have any attachment or regard for the fact that it was even a living creature given that she didn't even have any food for her. Screams puppy mill victim to me. Im just glad your friend has such a beautiful heart so she can experience something good and loving now. |
He is in the process of trying to teach her to play with toys. She seems confused by them. She is being spoiled but he says she is very well behaved. As for the girl who sold her, I don't know if there is a way to have her name flagged. Also, Craigslist wouldn't care. I'm begging my friend for pics and he's promising some soon. Her ears are already much better and her energy is up. She has a recheck in 2 weeks to monitor the anemia and to get a 2nd dose of wormer. There weren't any heart worms, so that's really good. |
Such wonderful news, yet how sad she is confused with toys, just shows how neglected she was.Your friend is a wonderful man to be so devoted to getting her to be the yorkie she was meant to be. He will be so rewarded with happiness when he gets this little girl to be where she should be, and that is, a happy, healthy little yorkie girl. Bless him. |
Better home I'm glad he took her away from that abusive owner. No dog should live in those kind of conditions. I would've turned her in after i took the dog. He did a good thing by taking her away. She will live a much longer and better life now. :aimeeyork |
Just checking in to see if there are any updates about your friend and his precious Princess...? Hope all is well and getting even better...! |
Here is Princess with her hair cut... 1 Attachment(s) I hope the pic shows up...She went back to the vet today and is doing much better. My friend says she is starting to act more like a typical dog. She really likes to play with his kids and has discovered she likes chew toys. She still doesn't know how to play with most other toys. He is working on getting her used to having her fur and teeth brushed but says she acts like he is torturing her. He gives her treats when she lets him brush her. Also , he says she is doing great on the potty training! She will probably be ready to be spayed next month. She is still anemic but is making progress. |
I forgot to add that she has gained almost a pound! 😀 |
She looks awesome. He is doing a great job with her I think and she should be back to normal in no time with what you just said he's doing with her. He is an awesome person for rescuing her. |
Princess looks just great, it will take time for her to learn to play, and if he has young children they have so much patience to teach dogs. She needs time to get use to new parents, new home, new surroundings, new routines and all this love and pampering she never had before. She was most likely not handled much and reason for the fuss when she's brushed, she's not use to it. Your friend has the understanding that a lot of patience is needed to turn this pup around. His reward will be an over whelming sense of pride for all his hard work and patience. Thank you and your friend for the photo of lil Princes. |
So glad to see a happy ending in process! |
Goodness... your friend is doing a WONDERFUL job with her! Other than looking bit skinny, she seems to be in great shape. This was totally meant to be... For brushing... What type of brush is he using? I've used few types and the best result I had was the Madan brush that Mimimomo sells. (toplinepet.com) I use the slicker brush with soft tip pins for matts when needed. Brushing teeth, how about wrapping a piece of gauze around the finger as a toothbrush? I've read that had success with some dogs that didn't like regular brushes. |
Best news everrr! Princess is just too, too, precious; I have a feeling she's gonna be a real stunner before long. Thank you very much for progress report; your friend is to be commended on his commitment to this sweet girl. And thank you for adorable photo!!! |

I'll have to ask what kind of brush he is using because I'm not sure. As for brushing her teeth, he said he is trying the brush that fits on his finger but I'll tell him about the gauze idea. He says she cries and twists around like crazy whenever he is trying to do any type of grooming and she hates to have her feet or ears touched. The vet told him to try cheese spread on dog biscuits to distract her. So far he says that's not working but she does like chicken jerkey. One last thing is that he has to measure her food because she will eat until she is sick if he leaves it out. |

One last thing is that he has to measure her food because she will eat until she is sick if he leaves it out.[/QUOTE] Once she realizes she is always going to have food she might out grow that but with her still in need of gaining weight it might take a long time. She looks precious. A testament to loving care. |
Princess is looking great! Happy to hear the positive progress reports. |
