Bedtime? do your babies have a specific time they want to sleep? Ever since Teddy moved back he goes to sleep at like 10:40 every night! I never sleep before 12 so this hard can I break him and get him to stay up later? |
Mine doesn't have a set bedtime, but she does know what it means if I say "let's go to bed". she's usually ready when I am. |
Yea that's how he was when he lived with me but then he moved in with my grandma now he has to be in bed by 11 at the latest or he will get mad and cuddle me (very rare for him)! She gets up at 2:30 and comes home at 7 and goes to sleep until 11 so I finally broke him of waking up at 3-4 for her work time now I'm just trying to be able to stay up later than 11 lol |
When I first adopted Cody at 9 PM he would stand in front of me every night and bark and bark, I had no clue what he wanted lol, 3 weeks later, 9PM he started barking, I ignored him, then he went off into my bedroom and went to bed lol, that's when I realized that was what all the 9PM barking was about, he wanted ME to go to bed lol. A few nights after he took himself to bed he barked at 9PM, I just ignored him and off he went to bed lol. We are together now 19 months, when he wants to go to bed, he goes,no more DEMANDING I have to go to bed also. Now reading your thread I have to assume that's what time his prev. owner went to bed lol. He will learn your ways, it just takes a bit of time for him to make changes. |
She comes up when we get ready for bed upstairs, around 8:30pm and she just goes right into her crate and starts cozying herself into her blankie and then I say night and close the crate. She stays there until my hubby gets up for work, he takes her out and then she comes back to bed with me :-) |

My Yorkies will go to sleep on the couch around 9:30 at night, but not really settle for the night until I take them out at 10:30 for last potty of the night. When I first got the puppies my puppy Rowan was waking me up at 5:15, 6, 6:30, 5:45. Anything between 5:15-6:30 am was fair game to him. I don't wake up until 7am on school days (my kids) and I like to sleep until 9-9:30 on weekends. This waking up so early was for the birds, but I had to do it. My daughter's puppy was sleeping in her bed (Rowan was in a crate) and she would sleep until I woke my daughter up at 7am or later on weekends. My daughter went away for a week and I had her puppy in the crate and they both were getting up at 8am (summer) and as soon as my daughter got home and took her puppy back I put mine in bed with me and he sleeps until 9 now! Teek on the other hand will stay in bed even if I get up and I have to go down and wake him up later but with getting up at 9, he is getting up with us. Before he was staying in bed. We all go to bed about 11 though. I would just keep pushing back when your put your dog to bed by a few minutes each night and see if that works. |

We stay up pretty late at our house. Calleigh will sleep on her bed in the living room or on the couch with me. She goes to bed when I do. Sometimes she will go to the bedroom and want to go in earlier. She gets plenty of rest, that's for sure. :) |

All my Yorkies are allowed on the couches. The only dog not allowed on the couch is the Enlgish Setter. Partly because he sheds and leaves hair around. He also is so big and I don't need an 80 lb dog sitting around taking up seats and refusing to move when people want to sit down. The Yorkies move if a person wants to sit, or we sit and pull them onto our laps. I understand some people not allowing dogs on the couch, but I love mine to be touching me whenever they want to be so I love them to be on the couch. Mine also sleep in bed with us too, so they are just used to be touching us and being with us. Going to my mother in laws house where dogs are not supposed to be on the couch will be interesting. We went there in May with Teek and he got into her chair and she just laughed and asked if she could sit down so I went and got him out of the chair for her, but she didn't seem mad about it. If they try to get on the couch I will put a blanket or sheet over it for sure in case they do. Good luck with the bedtime. I think he will slowly adjust to your schedule, most do, but some do not every change their habits. |

You are my daughter's age. One of the puppies was her 17th birthday present, so she has to follow my rules with the puppy, but mostly I am pretty laid back as I have a dog that sleeps with me already, so her puppy sleeping with her was not a problem. Are you out of high school? Or one more year to go like my daughter? The girl puppy we got is hers so she will be taking her with her when she moves out of the house, but it will be several years as she has a year of high school and then wants to go to community college for 2 years, so she will still be here a while. My puppy will stay with me. |
