Acquired Yorkie after death of co-worker I acquired a 9 year old female purebred Yorkie about 3 months ago when a co-worker of mine passed away. I am looking to rehome her. I have never had to rehome a pet and thought that maybe someone who is familiar with the process could give me some advice. I have tried to locate the breeder that is on her papers, to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. |
I'm sure someone here can help you. Can you mention the Breeder? Maybe someone here is familiar with them. Thanks for helping this little one. |
The name on the Continental Kennel Club Paper work is Melissa Giangrosso, the Sire is Little Herbie the Love Bug and the Dam is My Precious Little Shelbie. |
Be VERY careful rehoming her like on Craigs List or something bc people look for free dogs on there as "bait dogs" for dog fights etcetera. Make sure she is spayed first so that she doesn't end up a breeder. Why did you take her on and then want to rehome her, does she have issues? |
She does not travel well. We are avid RV'ers and traveling with her is difficult. We have tried sedating her, have talked with the vet, worked with a trainer to calm her. After our last trip out my hubby said, please find her a home. She is a sweetheart as long as we don't take her anywhere. |
I have driven her around in my car every night hoping to get her accustomed to being in a vehicle. |
My Alfie is an awful traveler and would bark a lot but I am used to it. Can you put her into a crate and cover it so that she doesn't see where she is going? |

I would never list any animal on Craig's List. I would really like to keep her, but hubby does not have the same endearment with Allie as I do. Hubby is gone for the next 6 weeks, he would like her gone by the tie he gets back. I am trying to accomplish magic in that period of time to hopefully show him it can work out, but at the same time looking for a new home. I am going through several scenarios in trying to alleviate her stress when driving with her. I was told by her sister that her owner drove with her occasionally with Allie on her lap. That was not a good at all in my mind. So first I put her in a kennel in the back seat, then I purchased a raised doggie seat which I tried in every area of the vehicle. She does not bark, she actually sounds like a very loud baby crying. I have never heard anything like it. Even the boarding kennel manager said he has never heard a dog cry like that. In my eyes she is perfect except for the crying. I have worked so hard with Ms. Allie. Maybe with this site and the support here, as I can see, I can work through this with hubby and Allie and Girli Girl. To me, that would be the perfect solution for everyone. |
I travel with my dog a lot! Hundreds of miles a week. He doesn't cry like that but he does pant and shake sometimes, not all the time. Maybe if you take her on a car ride every day she will just get used to it? Just reassure that everything is ok? Just an idea, I hope you're able to find a solution that works best for everyone. Good luck! |
Why don't you contact a yorkie rescue? I think Yorkie Haven has a location in LA. |

I did private message her on facebook but haven't gotten a response. |
3 Attachment(s) Isn't Allie just so cute! If anyone has any suggestions on how to work through the travel stress, I am willing to try anything. I came to this site to find her a home, but I see all the support on here and my focus has now turned to make this relationship with her work for my family. I have 6 weeks. |
AlphiesMum, I had not thought to cover the cage so she can't see, I will try that tonight. Thanks! |
