Anything strange that throws you off ? What do you make of the pricing? It is kind of ridiculously high. |

Yes, I hope so too. |
A bit scary, that ad. How fast is their family growing in the 1.5 years of the Yorkie's life, I wonder. Oh, and do people worry if a dog that age sleeps through the night? Brody and Mia were younger that dog is, but that was never mentioned by their previous owners. Maybe I am just too overly suspicious of Craigslist...? LOL. Cute Yorkie, though. |
Hi welcome to Yorkietalk :) She is a cutie and looks purebred to me too but like everyone else has mentioned the price does seems high. Best of luck with what you decide. |
Hi! She looks like a beautiful little dog. As for the re-homing fee, I have come across many Yorkies that are far older at rescue sites that are that much as an adoption fee. I think when people get a dog and have invested money, they try to recoup as much of their investment as possible. It's sad, but that is the way the world works. I would take someone along when you go to see her. I am nervous about ads as well. Hopefully, the ad turns out to be exactly what it says it is and that wee girl will get a home where no one will ever want to give her up. :) Best of luck. |
I don't think the price is too high, I think these ppl want to re-coop what it cost them in vaccines they invested in this dog, also the dog is somewhat house broken. That's a beautiful yorkie, it won't last long. Not saying there are not scams on craigs list, just saying IMO I don't think $700 is a lot to pay IF the dog comes with AKC papers. |

I have the same thoughts as everyone else....have someone go with you to be a little on the safe side. It does seem s little "too good to be true" in a way....perfect little angel but doesn't fit in with their family. Hopefully we are all wrong and you wind up bringing her home! Just be safe, take a friend (preferably a scary body builder :-) and do not bring or show money until it is decided you are taking her home. Unfortunately some people are so gross we have to think about things like are they gonna rob you or is this even their dog. Hope it turns out well for you both though! |
The reason why people on Craigslist use the word "re-homing" is because they don't allow you to sell animals on there. Anyways, I bought both of my fur babies from Craigslist and one is pure bred AKC registered. Both are great with no health issues so far. Just trust your gut instinct when talking to the seller. I've ran into some terrible ones and had to walk away. |
A plus though, is if they put the 'rehoming fee" too low or free, unscrupulous people would "adopt" them and use them for bait dogs (or cats, there are lots of cats advertised as free). :( Awful I know but it's reality. A high-ish rehoming fee is what reputable rescues use to screen out "those" people. But there are lots of people who want to recoup their money so they say a high rehome fee. |

She is really cute! Maybe you could offer less? |

Update! I just got word this morning that the person who was babysitting the little yorkie decided to keep her :( Oh well, I guess just so as long as she found a good home! My search for a yorkie continues! I have been in touch with a few breeders so I have hope  |
It sounds like a good deal. I would personally not pay that much, but if that is in your price range, then check it out. She looks adorable. Just remember that they are going to talk her up to get her a new home. I got a dog off Craigslist, AKC for $25. She had 4 kinds of worms and needed all her vetting. She was worth it in the end, but my initial price was low and the worms were treatable and then all her shots and getting spayed, so I did end up putting several hundred dollars into her, but ended up with a great and loving dog. This one comes with everything, so you won't have that initial vet costs hopefully. You can ask about taking her to your vet, or contacting their vet about the dog. Go with what your feel though. If she looks good and is friendly then maybe it is what you are looking for. I recently took in a 9 year old Yorkie and he is amazing. Good luck! |

I am really sorry that you didn't end up getting the yorkie. Good luck in finding a yorkie that will be meant to be yours and that you will fall in love with. |

I am not sure where you live but there are decent breeders that will sell pet quality yorkies for $700.00. Most will not be health tested but unless you go to a very good breeder that either shows or has shown not many health test, and if you were thinking about buying from Craig's list it's not much different. If you do get a puppy try to get one that is at least 12 weeks old, there is a big difference in yorkies at 8 weeks to 12 weeks, and since they are toy breed they are very tiny at that age so risks for complications are greater than say with an 8 week old lab. Try to find out from friends and yorkie groups where people have gotten theirs from. Also look at rescue groups because the majority do not charge $700.00 unless perhaps it's for a puppy. Good luck |
