YT 500 Club Member | Izzy and Toby love the dog park We have a few dog parks here that have a section specifically for small dogs, so we decided to check it out since I was having such problems finding an enclosed Park or whatever with grass to let them loose in. I've never really been excited about the thought of a dog park before. I always associated them with parvo and kennel cough. But my kids all have their shots up to date so we gave it a try and they have never been happier. And seeing Toby next to other dogs makes me realize just how damn handsome he is. Izzy is perfectly beautiful as always, but there's something about Toby and his giant size that makes him just stand out. He looks like a giant German teddy bear and everyone just dotes on him. He's really turned out beautiful and unique. Anyway, it's helping to socialize them better and Toby seems to lay off the thieving of everything for a little bit once we get home. Gives us a short respite anyway. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That's wonderful - sounds so fun! I need to go more often, I really do. Now, it's getting too hot here again. Glad you had such a good time.

| Dutch loves the dog park. She get's so much joy from being able to run free. And when she runs, she runs full speed. Sometimes when I am in the park I will intentionally go to the far side of the park....about a quarter of a mile (the dog park I go to is huge) and call her. She will come running at top speed. Sometimes I also run from her and she catches me every time. By the time we leave I have one happy and exhausted pup. |

| I wish we had something like that... One night in an open aisle at Wal-Mart, Piper connected with a Chihuahua and the play was on! They bounced and pawed and just had a short little blast. I wonder, do you think it's possible to establish something like a small dog park/playground where none has existed? Maybe I should do some research...? When you mentioned Dutch running full-tilt it makes me want to make that more possible for Piper--the couple of opportunities she's had to fly like the wind were so exhilarating for us both! |

YT 500 Club Member | hmmm... I'm not sure. You would have to look up the laws on that. If it were a private one so to speak it'd be easier , because along with making it public comes the issues of people not vaccinating and possibly spreading viruses between dogs, and you know someone will sue if they can. They took out a lot of the water faucets that were in the parks due to some canine flu that was spreading from community water bowls. and someone has to clean up after those who dont, and if it has cedar chips they have to be changed out periodically, and so forth. So you might be better off starting a petition to have the city create one instead of attempting it yourself. |

| I've had bad experiences from dog parks. First off, the dog park I went to has a lot of irresponsible owners that would just walk off and talk to other owners leaving their dogs unsupervised. Also, there's tons of fleas there. The last straw was when one of my dogs caught kennel cough and ring worm. Never again. |
