My MIL got a yorkie! Help us name her!

Ever since bf and I moved, MIL has been missing Uni and Toto and she kept telling me she wanted to buy a yorkie. I did not want her to buy one bc I know it would have ended up coming from a mill or byb. Well she got lucky and a friend of hers' daughter had to rehome her yorkie. She is 3 years old and 4.4 lb and cute as can be!

Unfortunately, seems like she has no name. They would whistle to call her but MIL said no name. So help us think of one! I have not met her yet, so no idea on her personality, but she just got her today and she's already chilling out in her lap. Seems pretty calm, and she's potty and crate trained. Don't know about tricks but I doubt it.

MIL loves flowers, and I love food names. Help me brainstorm! :)

Ok here are a few names I thought of. I kept looking at her picture and came up with these.

Blossom , Clover, Senna, Sage, Brie

Maybe Rose, Lily, Daisy, Dahlia, Cinnamon, Sugar, or Pepper.

Daisy after my favorite flower or Petal. I think that is the name of that adorable skunk off of Bambi.

Prissy, Taffeta, Chanel, Gianna, Winky, Frilly, Ruffles, Petunia, Daffodil(Daffi), BlueBell, Morning Glory, Fleur, Amaryllis, Lavender, Lilac is a little doll!!! MIL sure won the lottery with this little girl and the way she got her, how unlikely is that? You want a Yorkie and a friend knows of one needing a home! She's just precious.

Congratulations on your new addition to the family!

Awe she really is precious!! I like Lily and Daisy. I couldn't get the right name for Sunni when I first got her..so her first name was Nellie..lol….I swear I don't know where I got that…then it was Lily, and I loved it…until my mom came over and said awe, she's a little ray of sunshine. I had been mourning the loss of my dear sweet lil guy George, and only stopped crying when I held Sunni…so it went from Lily to Little Miss Sunshine:) It suits her. The vets thought I was crazy, because they literally had to put her name Nellie in the first time and then change it the next 2 times, lol. But the name had to work.!!

Well definitely not Prissy! My name is Priscilla and I already get irritated when I hear dog's named Priscilla. LOL

I like Lilly or toodles. I like chipper call her chips. I had a silver colored poodle called her Beau shadow it means beautiful shadow. Could call her Beau or shadow. Beau is pronounced bow Rosie is cute. I love roses

She's so pretty. I'm terrible with names. My 3rd poor yorkie can attest to that.

What a doll, can't believe someone would give her up, you MIL got lucky hope she is a happy healthy little girl

I love a double name, so wish I would have give Lola one.

I know of a cute yorkie named Crouton (foodie) is she Asian I always thought the name Ahi was cute Always wondered what happened to Ahi's mom, she does not come on her any longer

Belle:: Kahlúa –(liqueur):: Kiki (expensive purses):: Tiffany
Macy:: Crystal:: Ruby:: Peony:: Willow:: Aster:: Clover:: Holly (for Hollyhock)::Violet::Mercedes
Anise (a spice):: Cajun a spice (can spell it KAJON pronounced K-JON)
I also like Sage and Brie

What an adorable little girl, so glad you MIL was able to find a yorkie and the yorkie was able to find a home. Can't imagine someone not naming their dog. I heard the name Pettifleur the other day, on the Australian housewives show, it means little flower and it sounds a little like petit fours, which are bite size cakes. That's as clever as I can be this early.

Naming a pet can be a challenge, Lola is my only pup that the first name I thought of stuck, the others had multiple names till I settled on one. So I will be curious to see what name the new pup winds up with

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

So far I am leaning towards Ivy or Ginger. We prefer two syllable names. Also should have mentioned MIL has issue pronouncing F, R, and P. F sounds like P. R sounds like L. And P sounds like T.

No for sure on Lily bc we already had a Lily.

Well it's a story we've all heard too often. No time for the dogs. Working long hours. and now baby on the way. But at least they were very happy to give her to a friend, and MIL knows about yorkies since we had ours plus many fosters before. Only thing is I gotta convince her to get her spayed. At least she knows she's too small to have puppies.

I will ask her to email me copies of her vet records and ask if she has a microchip.

She is adorable. With so many choices, I'm sure she will end up with a name, plus many many nicknames. Congratulations to your MIL, what a great find.

She is adorable. First name came to mind is Rose but since R names are out...Emma is really a pretty name. Your MIL sure has a cutie there and any name you all pick will be perfect for her! :)

I did really like aster, holly noelle and jasmine as well :love: Donna, Lilahs birthday is just days before christmas- I wish it wasn't though because it is such a hubbub around the holidays and I feel like it takes away from her birthday. Anyway- wow, holly Noel yes just beautiful!
